So sorry to hear that Fraz.

Can the drs help to investigate why youve suffered so many times now? I really hope you dont have to go through that again.

Vitamin wise - Im just starting to take folic acid again. Been taking it for about 18 months now, sick of it really! I dont really have any other suggestions though than just general multi vitamins. Although if you do get pregnant I dont think youre supposed to take ones with Vitamin A in.

Hi fraz, I'm taking folic acid.

I just got my blood tested and I'm low in haemoglobin and platelets so the doc said I should take iron as well.

I was taking an aspirin every day but I've stopped as I'm a bleeder so don't want to make my blood too thin.

  • hi ladies,

I'm getting a bit worried. i haven't had a period since my erpc on 9th November. Just out of curiosity I did a pg test just after christmas, well in fact i did three! one showed clearly negative, and two showed a faint line but after the 15 minutes had passed after which you are meant to discard the test. So on monday i did a digi test which showed pg, 1-2 weeks.
only trouble is I started with a brown discharge on sunday which is slowly getting heavier. i saw the (pregnant, oh joy!) gp today who has sent a urine sample for testing at the lab, if negative I have to submit another sample in 7 days, and if that's negative i have to go for swabs. I'm concerned I still have raised hormone levels from November, and my OH probably thinks i'm having an affair because the 1-2 weeks since conception really doesn't fit in with our dates! ;) (honestly, my head is not in the right place for sex at the moment)

I just want to get back to normal and start ttc again. Seriously, i'm so fed up with all this now.

However, the rather sympathetic doctor did agree that next time i am pg, she will refer me to the midwife early and possibly the hospital for monitoring, which will be good for my piece of mind. I am hoping for early scans next time, she did suggest phoning the hospital for me today but didn't think it would be of much use.

Sorry if this is the wrong board to post on, but I wasn't really sure where it belongs....
  • Hi any name,

I'm sorry to read you are having troubles but I'm pleased you went to the Dr to have it looked in to.

The info I was given was that most people have their first period 4-6 weeks after ERPC, but waiting up to 9-10 weeks is also considered normal, which is the length of time you are approaching.

When do you get the results from the Dr? Why did the sample have to be sent away? Was she unable to test it at the surgery or did it come out as negative?

I assume the digi test was a more sensitive one than the other 'line' tests you used? There is a chance of course that you are pregnant as you are considered more fertile after an ERPC. It's also possible though that you still have a small amount of hormone left in your body from the miscarriage which would also explain not having had a period. Sometimes, like in my case, tissue is left in the womb and is just enough to convince your body you are still pregnant and therefore produces a small amount of hormone.

I understand how frustrating the not knowing must be. Unfortunately, the only difinitive answer will come from the Dr. Great news about extra monitoring in future though!

    Take care Xx

  • thanks please-let-me-be-lucky,

she didn't test my sample at the surgery, whether it was because i told her i had had inconsistent results or because they had squeezed me in as an emergency appointment (it was that or wait until next week for an appointment at all).

after my first erpc in july, it only took me 5 weeks to have a period, so i think i'm just a bit frustrated that it's taking so long.

i want to get my head straight and try again!

fraz I'm sorry you're going through this again, take good care of yourself. research suggests that the pregnacare conception vitamins have a positive effect on the pregnancy rate of ivf patients

how far out of your dates would the digi test be any name? the weeks on them aren't gospel, or are we getting into immaculate conception territory? x x

Just went on FB and saw an update from a lady I know at church. You guessed it - scan pic plus ten million exclamation marks and loads of gushing.

The status update below it? Her husband - scan pic again plus slightly less gushing excitement.

Considering he is our assistant pastor, and they know I've had five miscarriages, four of which were in the last two years, I really think they should have let us know quietly on Sunday (he was talking to OH anyway) rather than it be in my face like that. I replied to both saying 'would have been nice to have this broken gently but congratulations anyway', which I am slightly regretting now TBH but it's done and I can't face going back on FB right now.

How can people be so thoughtless?
