Thank you so much this advice is invaluable. We have to leave for the hospital in 15 mins and I've just started bleeding so Dh has gone to the shop as I haven't used a pad in about 16 years I only have tampons at home. So god knows what will happen now maybe the choice will be taken away from me.0

Hang on in there Claire, we are with you in spirit. Very glad your DH is with you and it sounds as if the hospital appointment is well timed. Take care of yourself and let us know how you get on.

HI claire i just wanted to send my thoughts to you and your dh. Its the hardest thing to go through and at the same time you have to make all these choices, ive been through it a couple of times before and i just wanted to hid and pretend that it wasnt happening.
Have a talk with the docs and think your options through on what is best for you. As others have said, this board is a god send sometimes for answers and support and someone is always here to help.0 -
So after the appt I now feel like I'm leaning the other way slightly. The dr was very young, so don't know how many years experience she has but the way she talked about the risks of the Erpc it scared me. She said yes it's possible that if you leave nature to its own thing it's probably unlikely you would have to go back for an Erpc but she didn't know the statistics.
In my mind I'm thinking at least if you had to have an Erpc because it hadn't all come out at home, at least if something went wrong you'd know if wasn't a choice. But, if I choose it now and then something went wrong I would wish I hadn't done it.
Basically the dr could only give me the information I already knew but was very nice, the nurse who took my blood pressure and pulse ( which set the alarm off as I was so upset) was lovely and said shed been through it herself and knew how I felt.
So if of course it just starts to happen now of its own accord. DH said he would help to make sure I didn't see anything. If the spotting goes away ill be forced into making a decision so just feel like the whole thing is up in the air now. Although she did say there was no rush they are happy to leave it another 2 weeks.
I asked about pain killers if if happens at home and the dr said taking paracetamol and ibuprofen should be ok. Would you ladies agree with that? Is it truly like bad period pains?0 -

I think it tends to vary from woman to woman. It is like bad period pains, for me I did need to lie in bed the day it happened.
All I could describe it as was a 'mini labour'. I started off with cramping and spotting which gradually got heavier over a couple of days, and then on the day I actually miscarried in the morning I was getting contraction like cramping every 5 minutes, after a few hours of this I started bleeding heavily and felt an urge to bear down. The pain then went back to painful period like cramps.
Sorry if this is TMI but when I miscarried I found it helpful reading other peoples experiences so I had an idea what to expect.0 -
i think it also varies depending on how far along you were, i had little to no pain and never felt the baby pass, i just know she must have done on the sunday as i had a about fifteen minutes where i had to stay on the toilet as blood was pouring out and there was one very large clot.
my baby measured 5.5 weeks so a lot smaller than most on here i think x xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

I didn't have much pain either. I was booked for an ERPC because I had read online that the pain and blood loss of a natural miscarriage was intense, but I ended up cancelling it on the morning, because I was managing fine at home. I think I managed it all on hot baths and hot water bottles but I may have taken a few paracetemol or ibuprofen too. I definitely didn't take or need anything stronger though. I was also 6 weeks along.0

They said the baby measured 8 +4 at the scan. Although I'm 11 weeks on so don't know if that will make any difference. The hospital/ operation literally scares the &@@£ out of me so I'm starting to think it would be better if it just happens before Friday. I've got minute spotting so I guess I just hope it carries on. Although the whole thing is just horrible, I just want to go back to being pregnant and happy.0

When I had my mc at 9 weeks, the baby had died at about 6/7.
I passed everything naturally and at home, and from memory it wasn't as painful as some women describe. It was like a nasty, heavy period with lots of clotty bits, some quite large.
I also remember feeling the need to sit on the loo and bear down at one point, and I think I passed the bulk of everything. I never saw the baby, only greyish type stuff which I think was the gestational sac. I did fish it out of the loo on my mum's instructions (sorry for tmi) as she said I must take it alsong to EPU for them to look at, which I did. That was a bit horrible.
I think I bled for about 2 weeks.
So sorry for you Claire. It really is a horrible business, I wish none of us had to go through it...ever.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0
