Just wondering what I can expect having a miscarriage at 9w? Had one at 5w but I imagine its going to be worse.

Im not actually sure how far the pregnancy progressed as I hadnt really had many symptoms from the beginning so Im thinking it may have been a missed m/c.

I'm sorry Amus - I'm not too sure. I had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks but the baby measures only 6 weeks. I had an ERPC as there were complications with mine, and after the operation I had mild cramping and bleeding - but obviously a natural miscarriage will involve more bleeding and presumably more cramping too.

Someone else may be along who is more help than me shortly.

Have you been to the EPU? They may be able to advice you further on what to expect.

Hugs for having to go through it again. It sucks :(

Skintchick, I'm so so sorry you find yourself back with us here :( It doesn't make it any easier that it is a return visit, the only light will be that you'll have a referral and may have some answers now.

Maire and mikwil, so sorry that you're both back here too. Life can seem very unfair at times; more so on days like this

Amus, my first was a mmc at 10 wks (baby died at 8+4) and I had an erpc, minimal bleeding for a day or so after and no pain at all. My second, most recent, was a natural mc at 7+4 and I had heavy bleeding with large clots for 24hrs before I had any pain or cramping at all. I had a few hours of very bad cramping for the next two days - both times after I'd been lying down for a few hours and the bleeding tailed off over the next 10 days. As abis said, have you contacted you EPU as they should be able to offer advise and support. So sorry that you too find yourself back here.

Big hugs to all who need them and prayers that we all have our wish granted xx

I'm sorry for your loss Amus.
I think it depends on what stage baby died and what option you take. I had a missed mc at 13+ weeks, the baby died at 11+ weeks. I opted for medical management at the hospital where they give you drugs to induce the contractions. I was very painful and I was given pethedine while I was there. Depending on the what stage the mc happened you may see the baby when you pass him/her. I had a lot of painful cramps and also ended up with some membrane getting left behind which ended causing me an infection. The bleeding lasted for about 6 weeks for me, although the heavy bleeding and large clots only lasted maybe a week.

As abis said, the EPU should be able to offer you some advice on what to expect and also they can tell you what stage baby developed to, assuming you've been for a scan. If you haven't been to the hospital then it would be advisable to go so that they can check you over and also discuss all your options.

    xx

    Hey Cleofish,

Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you. Have you got your consultants appointment through yet?

My levels are doing ok. Going down each week but not normal yet. Had my first AF tho - so am hoping for a good result this week.

Waiting results on weds, and then 1 more sample on fri (results the following weds) to get within my '8 week' window for TTC sooner. Am hopeful (as always, lol!) that I will get there - but gonna need a couple of really good losses to get there.

I feel like I've come to terms with it all now. The waiting isn't so bad (most of the time!). Its probably been a good thing as its given me time to grieve for the baby (altho part of me wonders if there will be still more to come once I have hit 'normal' as I am a little focussed on those results for now).

We've had such amazing support from family and friends which has massively helped.
