I was told by my obstetrician at the follow up appointment that I might never carry another child to term but "that wouldn't be the end of the world" (because I already have children, which he delivered).0

I think I said something like that to a family friend, she was 17 at the time and had just had a miscarriage. I don't know if I actually said it to her (I really hope not)
Since losing the boys I keep looking back on that and am mortified that I would even think it.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Hi all,
Thanks for your kind words. I have had 3 blood tests, first one was to see what level my hormones were at, 2nd came back as 'stable' and I am just waiting for the result of the 3rd test.
I was coming up to 8 weeks, which people say is 'common' but it doesn't make it feel any better.
Btw- I agree about people being insensitive - I couldn't believe the way the hospital treated us - the sonographer said to her trainee 'its almost like when dogs have phantom pregnancies' - I was just trying not to burst into tears. Then when the nurse just said they needed some blood and sent me home I was horrified - I walked out of the hospital so confused it was unreal.
That's when OH and I decided that no-one needed to know about the situation.2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Needhelpsaving unfortunately what we found was that the health care professionals were used to it so weren't as sensitive as you would expect.
When I was in theatre giving birth the staff were discussing the pros and cons of the new Iphone. Despite the fact I was upset and scared and my husband who was next to me thought I was dying yet they were chatting away as though they were on a coffee break.
It was only when my husband was pleading with me not to close my eyes (because as far as we were aware if I went to sleep I wouldn't wake up again) the aneathetist (sp?) noticed and reassured my husband that the painkillers and drugs were making me sleepy and it was ok if I dosed off for a bit.
My husband had to keep saying to them that although this was their day job this was completely new territory for us and a place we never imagined or wanted to be.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Hi Kitten_pie,
I am so sorry to hear that you also had a bad experience. It's such a shame that they think it is appropriate to behave like this. I appreciate that they must see it everyday, but in my mind that's no excuse.
Although, I must admit that I have been shocked at some of the comments on the thread made by parents.
Lauradora - I don't know how you restrained yourself - I don't think I could have if my parents said that to me.

God i agree.
On the gynaecology ward where I was treated the nurses were very good but the antenatal dept were terrible
The woman that gave us the sonogram who had to tell us that the baby had no heartbeat was very sensitive, and professional however after that the rest of the antenatal experience was awful. Midwives and doctors were equally as incapable as each other. the midwife just kind of sat there looking at us clearly uncomfortable.
The doctor was "At least you know you can get pregnant" and the absolute pearler was "Well if you go on to have another miscarriage after this we'll welcome you back into clinic to do futher investigations" thanks love
luckily hubby was too distraught to have heard what she said otherwise think I may have had to restrain him
Feeling better in myself today than I have all week. Although still feeling quite ill. lots of tummy pain kept me up all night and weeing a lot. Having some twinges in my kidneys aswell, may have to get in at GP in the morning
Went and had my nails done this afetrnoon as pampering seems to be keeping my spirits up. managed to make it through the appointment, and tell my beautician what had happened without having a meltdown which is reassuring and making me think I may be brave enough to see other friends from now on.
Hows everyone else getting on?On a mission0
