finally got my appointment to see the specialist consultant at the hospital in 2nd week in march feels like i have been sleeping under the letterbox for the past few weeks.

Quite suprised work have been supportive and says its fine and not concerned with the time i come back into work after the appointment but still dont trust them to pull the rug from under me so to speak.

think my body is all over the place tho since the mc's as ive gone from a 12 to 16 within like 3 months even did a test yesterday to check by some tiny bit of hope i was still pregnant but nope.

Is there any questions that I should be asking when I see this consultant?

  • Cozza, I would ask what tests they're doing, why they're doing them and when you can expect results (my bloods were sent to various different places so the results all came back at different times)

Also, if the tests come back clear, ask what the next step is - will you get extra care when you get pregnant again, for example?

Also, write stuff down that you want to ask, as well as the answers - it's easy to get overwhelmed and forget things.

My weight has gradually gone up over the last 2 years since my first miscarriage - just not been in the right frame of mind to do anything about it :/

Glad you don't have to wait much longer for your appointment. It's such a relief to get the date as it feels like things are moving on :) x

ah thats lovely about the appointment cozza. Like ali said ask away about everything and time frames. As i am not at that step, i dont know much, but would def agree about the blood tests, if you will get any hormones etc. do let us know what you find out please? we will be thinking of you.

As far as the weight is concerned, since the news of the MC, which was beg of Jan, i have put on frm them till now around 2 kilos. i have just been comfort eating and now i feel sick as my clothes are getting tighter. so today i went back to kung fu, and felt good. i was very tired but i am always tired, so the exercise might even make me less tired. Since i have not worked out in ages, i am totally dead right now and have been sitting since we got back, my legs etc are sore, but i am hoping to go back to the gym this week and keep it up. think i need to get active.

its only normal i think that considering what has happened to us, that food is a comfort. for me def it is esp when feeling low, so always tuck into the bad foods.:(

got a bit sad last night as we were out with lovely friends and me and hubby were having some banter and teasing each other, and he joked that he has to put up with me, and imagine if there kids too and i said no we dont have kids. and i got really sad. :( i then drank a bottle of red wine with my friend and 2 cocktails later. was lovely and i got giggly and silly. sigh...

well now off to put some pizza in the oven. too much effort. lol.

hope you are all ok sweeties. hugs. xxx

  • Hi All,

I was hoping that someone with a bit more knowledge than me could help...

I went for my 12 week scan a couple of weeks ago, and was told that we had a missed miscarriage. Because it had gone about three weeks previously, I went and had an ERPC a couple of days later. It seems to have gone ok and I've stopped bleeding, which is all good.

Because it was my third miscarriage with no successful pregnancies, we've been referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic. So my question is... what will happen? They've taken some blood already, so they should have the results by the time I see anyone, but I suppose I want to know what happens next?

    Thanks in advance :)

so sorry for your loss sara.. its been just over a month for me. hope you are ok. xxx

i am sorry i am really not aware of what happens next as this was my first, but from what i have read here, i think you will get checked out properly for hormones and any other factors that may have contributed to your mcs. sometimes i have heard of them giving women medicines to make sure all is stable and even hormones as treatment. they prob will investigate the reason behind it and then take it from there. i wish i could help. :( i guess the blood tests are def the first step towards it. x

oh Sara, I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know what happens for recurrent mc in terms of testing but I've read a book by Prof Lesley Regan on mc (can't remember the name) that I found very helpful.

    Take care of yourself x
  • Hello Sa-ra-ra-ra. What a horrible situation for you, but hopefully the specialist appointment may give you some help & answers. My own experience of my 1st m/c was very similar to your third (missed m/c found at 12 week scan, ERPC, etc.). Other two were different, but that is another story. My investigations were mainly blood tests (felt like loads), few tests on my husband (blood & sperm from memory), medical history investigations (including info on other family members) and an internal scan to make sure everything was where it should be.

In my case, no reason was ever found - unfortunately this is not uncommon, apparently. However I was treated with heparin & baby asprin from week 6 of pregnancy number 4 and she is now 4 years old (I suppose that it makes me a bit odd that I now have my baby and still lurk around this board, but I get comfort from it so hope noone minds). All else I can say is the very best of luck. I hope it works out for you x
