Emsbet and Kavics, I'm so sorry for your losses.

Emsbet, as others say, take as much time off work as you need. If you need it your GP should be able to give you a doctor's note.

    Thank you Susan.
I hadn't thought of a doctor's note. Although TBH work prob won't mind as the organisation I work for is closing early next year.

I found this poem on the internet when I was looking for some information on miscarriages. It really sums up how I've been feeling today.

I only met you in my dreams,

    But what dreams they were...

We danced and sang and laughed till we cried

I only saw you through my eyes

But how you made them shine....

With tears and laughter and hope and fear

You were only loved by two people

But that love could hold up the world

As only love can be that strong

    You were never here

But you will never be far away

In my heart, in my dreams, forever in my love

Oh Emsbet, that is beautiful, brought a tear to my eye.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss Emsbet, it really is a kick in the teeth after seeing a heartbeat on a scan. I hope things go as well as they can over the next few days, and that you & your OH continue to give each other strength xxxxx

Sorry to you too Kavics, I hope you have a nice time with your brother. I check this thread every day and there is always someone here if you need us. They used to always give the anti-d injection after miscarriages if you're rh- but these days they don't. My GP said it's only necessary if you miscarry after 12 weeks, or if you have an ERPC so please don't worry xxxxx

After reading stories from people about medical management not working for them I'm starting to worry. I have seen the stats that say it is successful in 85% of cases but after been in that unfortunate 1% that lose their baby despite a heartbeat been seen after 11 weeks I'm not confident that we won't be in that 15%.

Has anybody had medical management that's been successful (not really the right word but I can't think of another) or at least that they haven't needed ERPC?

  • emsbet - as you know mine was sucessful.

I would say dont google as people rarely share 'positive' stories about these situations, its normally those that have struggled that seek advice and their tales are normally the worst case.

And damn you missy for setting me off again with that poem :p

I think it's natural to worry about the unlikely bad possibilities once you've had one unlikely bad possibility happen but it is still unlikely that it will happen. If it's any reassurance, all of my miscarriages have been natural miscarriages (which I think holds fairly similar risks to medical management in terms of potential complication) and I've never had any complications.
