Big hugs to you all .... don't give up would be my message. My first pregnancy was ectopic and I lost a tube in the process, then I suffered an inter-uterine death at 22 1/2 weeks. I then went on to have 3 children and then 2 further miscarriages at 13 and 8 weeks. Losing a baby is never easy, take as much time out for yourself that you need and stay positive xx0

mnc I went back after two days, still bleeding heavily (sorry TMI) and didn't feel I could tell anyone in case I never got pg again and it damaged my career (a bit mad I know, but its not a time for thinking straight) and I was in a fog for about two weeks. I really should have had the time off. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

I spoke to my head last night and ended up telling her everything, then if there is any comeback I've kept her fully informed. She was surprisingly not too bad and has given me the whole week off so at least thats one less thing to worry about at the moment.
I phoned the EPAU this morning and they said to monitor the bleeding (which has now stopped again!) for now and stick to my appointment on Friday. If I'm not happy and it gets worse then I've to go to the gynae ward as an emergency.
Has anyone else had a situation similar to this before where you have had spotting/light bleeding for weeks but not actually had the miscarriage yet? Will I just have to wait and wait or do the doctors actually intervene eventually?0 -

Hello mnc
I have had 2 missed miscarriages - (this is where the pregnancy ends - sometimes a while ago but you don't have any/many outward signs)
The first time I had a small amount of brown old blood bleeding at 12 weeks and when went for 12 week scan it showed the pregnancy had ended at 8.5 weeks - I was given the option of letting nature take it's course (possibily experiencing something like what you are going through now) or having an ERPC operation to remove the contents of the pregnancy - I plumped for the ERPC and bleed lightly for a week or so afterwards but for me was far less traumatic.
I concieved my DS 3 weeks after the op.
The second time was a similar story and I contacted EPAU as had light spotting - this time they scanned me and saw a sac but no heartbeat- unfortunately they would not perform an ERPC due to the fact that they said the pregnancy could still be viable - (i.e. I could be less than 6 weeks - I knew this wasn't the case as I should have been 11+ weeks but can understand why they have this policy)
I went back to be scanned in a week's time (next to no bleeding in that week) to find that there was still no heartbeat as I expected and then I had another ERPC.
It's a personal choice - I know lots of women who prefer to deal with this naturally but for me I do not regret medical interventation at all - it helped me to deal with what was happenig.
My advice to you would be if the outcome of your scan at EPAU is not good news and you do not wish to be left I would proactively request that you speak to someone re an ERPC.
HTH and hope things work out for you x
NB - Re work/sick leave etc...I would not worry - if you are experiencing a miscarriage most GP's will sign you off for as long as you need - don't let yourself feel rushed or pressured0 -

I had on-off bleeding for 3 months (July-October) before going for an ERPC.. If I were you I'd request the ERPC assuming the bleeding is ongoing on friday.. it takes about 20 minutes.. I was in and out within 3 hours and shopping in B&Q on the way home.. I bled for 3 days after.
I have had 4 ERPC's and it is so much less traumatic, physically and emotionally, than just waiting and waiting and waiting.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
My mc was a natural one and I had no hospital intervention. I bleed dark brown stuff like you for around a week then two to three days of very heavy bright red blood then it slowed down and stopped. I have to say I carried on working as I needed the distraction but I was so so tired. I nearly passed out in the shower one night and had to get hubby to put a pad on me and carry me back to bed. It was so undignified!
Just a question for you all. My mc was at the beginning of Feb and Im still waiting for AF to arrive. I have no signs or feelings or anything to say Im to expect it. How long did it take for others to get AF?0 -

Think we are prob all different on this one - with first MC AF never did arrive as concieved first cycle but would have been 5 weeks after my ERPC had I not concieved.
With second MC I think it was approx 4 weeks from memory.0 -

Dignity goes out the window the moment you start thinking of having a child... I have learnt that by now...
After the ERPC it was 30 days before AF
After the natural miscarriage it was 43 days from when I first started bleeding
(I have it all on a spreasheet on monthlyinfo.com)
I think it varies woman to woman...0 -

Quite right too.

I had a mmc, foetus stopped developing at 6 weeks, undetected til scan at 13 weeks.
About a week later, the bleeding started, I wanted to manage it at home, horror of general anaesthetics, and I did, but the bleeding was beyond anything I have ever experienced and when I started feeling faint I ended up on the gynae ward. They wanted to keep me in overnight, but actually after a few hours there, having drank some water and eaten something or had a cup of tea, I felt loads better and went home.
Depending on the hospital, you can have medication or the surgical procedure (ERPC) or wait to see if it happens naturally. They won't leave you indefinitely though, my hosp said a week. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0
