I have been looking at The New Yorker for our Honeymoon - can I ask what you thought of it?

My hairdresser stays at the New Yorker when she goes, and she loves it. She did stop in the Metro Hotel once and wasn't as impressed.

Sorry for all the questions but want to take little one to see lion king on Saturday 9 oct afternoon cheapest tickets off broadway site are $95 each, Does anyone know if there is somewhere I could source them from that is cheaper?

Doubt you'll get it much cheaper if at all, they dont do these at the TKTS booth do they.

The cheapest flights i have found are £283, which is great, but its with Kuait Airways - is that bad? for £319 I can get flights with KLM which a friend of mine has said really looked after him last time he went with them.

    Have you tried these sites?

For what we payed for the new yorker £730 for 5 night 2 people upgraded room which was- 2 double beds, bigger room, a view ( but didnt get) I was happy with what we got.
The only problem I had was with the view we were given in the words of the man checking us in ' You dont have a view, your view is a brick wall' Which I was not impressed with as you get a view of the hudson river or empire state with an upgraded room so that is what I had payed for. I had to argue for 20mins and for 20mins got answered back finally got sent up on my own to look at 2 rooms and eventually I got another room without a brick ball view however it still didnt have a great view tbh conciering I had booked 7 months before and emailed the hotel twice asking for a empire state view.
So I would say if you are upgrading even though the website says you get a view with this package it isnt always the case so dont get your hopes up like I did.
We had a large room, very clean and modern. They have security 24/7 and you have to show your room key to get to the lifts. All the staff (apart from the guy who checked us in) were very nice & helpful.
The area isnt the best for restaurants or bars you will have to go elsewhere but its very close to Macys, Penn station, Times Sqaure.

I would stay here again if I got a good deal like the price I payed before.

I agree, being such a popular show. Not sure if they sell them or not however its not really worth the chance if you know you want to see it. Had a quick look for a code for you but doesnt look like they are any about.

LOL - KLM it is then!

    Thank you very much.

Another thing I have only jsut thought - is todays budget going to effect the price of flights?

I am going to be gutted if it does because I don't think I will be able to book them until after work!

    Thanks again for everyones help.

Obviously I realise prices will have gone up since you went (inflation and all) but where did you get that deal? The prices im looking at now are about £1,100 for 7 days.

It was Travel Republic. I noticed myself the price increase in the new yorker hotel it has gone up quite a bit this year compared to last year.

I realise im answering my own question here - but George Osbourne has said in the budget that he is still deciding whether to increase the tax on flights. Good news at least for now! Think I'll book new york flights tonight if they are still £319! :)

  • Been to NYC before but not used the ticket booths as never had chance to see a show before cos of all the sightseeing. Off in Oct and want to see Promises Promises - decent tickets are expensive and I note that last week TKTS booth had smoe for the show - is there a way of finding out how much they were going for?
Do you think I should chance it and buy some out there - want to go on 20 Oct in the afternoon showing??
