not a desperatly limited budget but obviously don't want to fall into spending twice as much as i need to.
With tipping, do you do it in a takeaway/stall? i obviously would in a sit down meal, but for a burger/hotdog etc i guess not?
I am not thinking of doing a lot of the touristy bits i guess, sol def. and a bit of shopping (macys etc), i have heard good things about totr so prob. that.
Does anyone know if the hudson holds bags?Ok, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!:eek:0 -
Don't think its expected at hotdog stalls, but sometimes if something was $1.50 i d give them $2 dollars and let them keep the change. Some delis have tip boxes for you to put lose change in. Can be useful to get rid of the lose coins.
I m guessing the Hudson will hold bags - most do - but they may charge you are dollar or so for the trouble.0 -
Be a bit aware of tax, it caught me out a few times, you'd see a bottle of water for 99c, so you'd hand over a dollar and then find it was 1.05 you were being asked for ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

if i was to book the reserve with crown access, at $15 each, does that include the ferry? it seems quite good value to me, and does anyone know how long time wise you get to go up to the crown and piccies etc?
thanks ever so much everyone
sooooo excited nowOk, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!:eek:0 -
i'm not sure of price but i was there early june this year. Went on downtown bus before 8am and still had an hour and half before screening at battery park. Ferry itself takes about 15 mins to reach liberty island then a tour of island takes at least 2hours. Queue again for ferry to ellis island and few hours spent there< enjoying island, views, great for pics, and the breeze kept us from heading back to manhattan til late afternoon. i found best way was to take things as they came as opposed to really trying to fit everything in as New York time is like no other time you'll ever experience.ok, probably being really thick now, but this tour:

Yep did it myself in December and that does include the ferry, crown access, the museum on the island etc. Only thing left to pay for is the obligatory gift shop purchases! But it does fill up months ahead so book ASAP for a specific date. And you get as long as you need to climb up and down, its not as daunting as it sounds. At the very top its actually really small so take some pics and then move on if there's others coming up behind you. But there are viewpoints on the way up aswell.0 -

The way my american friend explained to me that if you get food and take it away yourself then you don't tip. If someone brings your food to you then you tip.
Also tip the taxi drivers/bellhop ( if the hotel has one) etc etc.0 -
i was originally going to go and see the lion king on broadway, however i have re-considered as my daughter may be a bit young to sit still for the amount of time it runs.lion king can wait till next year in london.
i have seen one called imagineocean off broadway that only runs for just under an hour, has anyone seen this show and is it worth going?0
