Hi,
I fewl Delta, a year ago today, and we hadpersonal TV screens in economy. There was a wide range of movies, TV dramas, music etc even had puzzles/games on them too which was very useful for my mum who had never flown and has very nervous (cried at check in) it kept her occuppied the whole flight.
Not sure where you're flying from but I found Delta staff very helpful, we contacted them about mym nervous mum boarding first with the priority boarders/those needing assistance and they were very accommodating. The inflight service was good, maybe not quite as many offerings of complimentary drinks as Continental (flown with them too) but out of the 7 of us who flew no-one felt it was inadequate. Leg room/seat pitch were fine too - and well lets just say I'm not a size 8!
Hope this helpsLBM 03/07 £44k:eek: DFD 31/12/17 :A 12/17 £2545.50

Hi
I am just planning a 4 night break to New York (april 2011) and have a few questions.....
1. Is four nights suitable or would 3 nights suffice? We have 2 teenagers in tow (13 and 14)
2. Really want to fly Virgin - but is the service any better than Delta or Continental Airlines?
3. Anyone stayed at Westin New York Times Square? This is my favourite choice so far.....
4. Regarding airport transfers....shall we pre-book or get one when arriving? Also, may book a limo for arrival (special occasion) so who would be the best company to book this with?
5. I am looking to book direct with Virgin Holidays as a package.....i know I may pay more but seems the easiest option!
Thanks for any help you are able to give before I take the plunge and confirm flights!!!!
1. I've done both 4 nights and 7 nights and woudl recommend going for the longest trip you can - so hence 4 nights.
2. Never flown Virgin but have used both Delta and Continental direct from Svotland. Dleta to JFK and Continental to Newark - no quibbles about either service or seat etc, I'd think they'd be much more competitive on price than Virgin but cannot be sure as enver considered Virgin.
3. Not stayed at the Westin can recommened Renaissance 2 Times Sqaure, some say it's expensive but worth it - loved my stay there! Our room was big, andn not just by NYC standards - 3 adults sharing and had 2 double beds and we found plenty of space for us all. Also from friends and family there at same time (went for a family wedding) I can recommend W Times Square, New York Palace (ok this was the bride and groom), Crowne Plaza at Times Sqaure, Millennium Broadway as well as The Hudson (only complaint rooms small but this is to be expected in NYC.
4. I took taxi from Newarka nd it was fine, can't remember how much it cost now - sorry. I have also used 'usopenlimos' and foud their service great think it was $110 including 3 hotel drop offs, free soft drinks, including all tax, tolls, parking etc Their watiing time is 45mins whihc when I was looking was more than most and the driver comes into greet you. We were held up in the airport by about 4 hours as my mum's name came up the same as a US citizens wanted by FBI and so they held her until ID checks were completed by Washington the usopenlimos people were great no extra charges they just said to call when we were ready and the driver would come round from the carpark - after that ordeal I wouldn't see past them.
5. I've enver booked a package def recommend expedia, some of our party booked everything with them we just booked flights and then direct with Marriott (own Renaissance). I don't think there's any more hassle especailly as you'll pay over the odds and there will be folk on here who will help you with the process of booking if you need it.
Hope this helps, I'm so jealous NYC is my favourite city and before I went it wasn't on my top ten placesI wanted to visit.LBM 03/07 £44k:eek: DFD 31/12/17 :A 12/17 £2545.50

Hi everyone
My boyfriend and I are going to new york for the first time and have found a lovey looking B and B on Staten Island (called victorian B+B). We love the look of it and the price seems good but we are a bit worried about travelling on the ferry everyday. The B+B is ten min bus ride from the ferry in the New Brighton area.
Has anyone ever stayed on Staten Island? Was it a pain going back and forth..or was it a nice experience?
Is there a bus that goes to manhattan?
We are young and may be out late some nights and wondered whether anyone knows whether taxi's are likely to be outside the ferry terminal late at night?
We thought it might be nice to see New york from a different/quiet residential type perspective aswell as experiencing the busy exciting city.
Any feedback would be much appriciated, thank you:)
I've not stayed on Staen Island but I ahve previous stayed in New Jersery (Weehawken) right beside the fery terminal - and woke up everyone morning to that famous NYC skyline (stayed in the Sherarton). This was fine but not a god as staying in Manhattan. The ferry journey was only 7/8mins and once you get onto Manhattan free buses are waiting outside to take you to key points in city - the buses are clearly labelled. However I think the last ferry was about 11pm. But you could taxi back if it was a late night- not sure how much that would cost though.LBM 03/07 £44k:eek: DFD 31/12/17 :A 12/17 £2545.50

Thank you sooo much for all your information - very helpful! We have stayed in lots of Marriotts and always found them great so maybe I will check them out in NY. Thanks again!0 -
Thanks for your reply Emily. What airline were you with and did you find your flight was shorter than advertised?0

It's usually cheaper to book direct with Marriott - well that's what I've always found. Their website is good even tells you the exchange rate that will be used for your booking.
If you have a Marriott reward card remember to enter your number beore booking too! It works for any of the Marriott group hotels too.LBM 03/07 £44k:eek: DFD 31/12/17 :A 12/17 £2545.50

Hi all,
I went at Easter this year and we ate at 3 restaurants that were about $100 for 2 with no alcohol and to be honest you can get better in London for a lot less. What impressed us the most was Time Out Cheap Eats. We tried 3 from this list and they were all amazing!
