    Hi Guys!
My boyfriend and I have just returned from 10 day trip to NY , booked through Expedia back in January , £800 each, stayed in the Edison Hotel just off Times Square.
Hotel was clean, art deco style, lovely place to stay, we got a refurbished room (Lots of reviews we seen before we went said hotel was rotten but our stay was fine).
Flights were with Continental, awesome in-flight entertainment tv system, 6 episodes of "House MD" for me, yaaaaaas.

Done everything imaginable in NY, was very warm but since I'm from Scotland I was loving it lol.
Boat to New Jersey, went to Carlos Bakery for some photos and yummy cakes.
Train to Long Island for one day too where we hired a car and went shopping, malls were awesome and I found the most awesome sweet ever, Cinnabon! :D
Walked Brooklyn Bridge, purchase $6 milkshake due to fear of death by heat (BF raging at me at cost lol whoops).
Empire state, Top of the rock, Central park, blah blah blah.
    AWESOME.
The flip side of sanity is the game.

Has anyone been at Easter time? Just wondered what weather etc was like?

Was going to go Christmas time, but as I want to do all tourist things I don't want my time to be spoilt by freezing/rainy weather, much as I would love to see the Christmas decorations.

    Hi

I've been twice at Easter time. Once was late March and the other mid April.

Late March - glorious sunshine, quite warm (warm enough for T Shirts in the daytime two days, other two days just required a cardi/light jacket)

Mid April - torrential rain, high winds for three days out of the four. The fourth day was overcast and not warm but not cold either (jacket wearing weather but not coat).

    So, in summary?

Who knows....! Fingers crossed for the former ;)

i am going to NYC in october but need to book some transport from JFK to the MAve hotel on madison avenue and back to JFK.
I have looked at super shuttle but there are loads of very bad reviews online so i do not want to risk them.
I arrive at 2.45pm and do not want to be bothered with trains/subways etc due to having my 2.5 year old daughter with me,ideally i want to be picked up outside terminal and dropped off at hotel door.
Coming home my flight is 8.00am so need to be at JFK very early and want to use a reliable mode of transport.

what sort of price would a taxi cost each way?

can anyone recommend a decent type of transport not looking for the cheapest just something reasonable.

    thanks

    Hi there
A cab sounds like your best option it will be $45 + toll and tip.
They will be outside the terminal so have no probs getting one or if you wanted you could prebook a car service?
On your return to JFK you could ask your hotel to prebook you a taxis/car if you wanted for piece of mind, they will do this for you, I stayed at the new yorker hotel on my last visit and enquired about cost and for private car prebooked it was $70.
I have found in my experience with the bigger/tourist hotels there are usually some waiting outside anyway or if they see you outside with case will pull over.
New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥
  • i agree, we stayed in the empire and were offerred a very luxurious, spacious limo type car back to newark for $70 by the hotel. less stress on transfers with a youngun is preferable enjoy your trip
