    richardw - what dates though?

By the way - KLM do not fly direct from LHR, these will be a codeshare with Delta so you may find a similar price on the Delta website, plus if you book through them you can upgrade to Economy Comfort for £30, and if you book through KLM, for some reason the site normally doesn't allow you to until check in.. weird huh?!

    I found this

    Flights
London (Heathrow Airport) - New York (John F. Kennedy International) - Return
    Departure: Thu 27 Feb 14 09:40 London - 12:54 New York
    Return: Mon 3 Mar 14 21:05 New York - Tue 4 Mar 14 09:25 London
    GBP 388.09 per adult

Through klm for delta direct flights. It seems there's availability to end of March, book by 5th Feb, as always have a thorough search before booking.

    Hi all

I've been following this thread for a good while now. I am paying for myself and my OH to go to NYC for our birthdays in May (as a surprise for his birthday present) - mine is on the 17th, his is on the 19th and we will be going on 16th May -21st May.

I have been looking for flights and the cheapest I can find is £475 with Delta for a non-stop flight. Would you say this is a decent price for the time of year I'll be going or should I wait a little longer and see if the prices drop?

    Thanks
    Emma

    Hiya

This is from Heathrow. I checked the flight times and we would land in NYC at around 2.30pm, although I understand we will probably be waiting quite a while ti get through immigration etc? I would like to get the latest return flight possible so we can spend an extra day in the city (we have both got the 22nd off worl for this purpose)

    Thanks

I've taken the early flight from LHR to JFK with Delta numerous times, and if you're off the plane quickly, walk briskly to immigration, you're normally through within about 25 mins.

Best I've ever had was 22 mins to get through immigration, get my luggage and get on the AirTrain and that was the old Terminal 3, which was a good 5 min walk to the AirTrain.

Ok, Flight prices. £425-450 is about right these days for a reasonable priced flight, I've looked for your dates, and see the following
£339 with American Airways but on a US Airways Codeshare - this is dirt cheap, but it's booking through a website I've not heard of, but £355 with ebookers and they're ok.

AA has legroom which is poor IMO, but the service is around average on a transatlantic flight. I like Delta, I always fly Delta, but if I were looking here, and the price difference is this, then I'd consider flying AA/US

Delta is around £500. This was checked on Kayak.

I've checked directly with Delta on their website, and the flights are coming up at around the same price. The key reason I do this is to find the class code that they're offering. In this instance it is V, which is the lowest possible one they offer on a TATL flights. (It used to be T, but V and E are lower), and yeah letters mean everything when it comes to flight prices.

Personally, I'd grab them US Airways flights if you're happy with the times. I can't find that price on either US or AAs websites though.

Hi M4RKM thanks so much for your helpful reply. I have found the prices you have stated. I'll get these booked ASAP before I lose them! Thats good that it doesnt seem to take too long to get through the airport/immigration-I'm not one to dawdle through an airport!

EDIT: I've just tried to book the flights through ebookers. Totalled up to £669.10. I entered in all of our details and the payment details, only to then be advised that the price is no longer available and the price was now over £1,000 (cant remember the exact amount). I tried the NetFlights link also but I just get 'an error has occurred'. I've tried going through both netflights and ebookers websites but am getting around the £475 mark still :( Kayak's prices seem to be out of date?

Just trying to calculate spending money:

We are staying for 5 nights. Does this sound like a realistic budget for our stay or is it too stingy or generous?

$750 for dinner. We are planning on visiting one high priced restaurant in this.
$300 for breakfast and lunch and drinks each day.
$1000 on shopping (planning on getting some outlet designer stuff, maybe some jewelry)
    $300 for sightseeing.
    $500 for miscellaneous and tips.
