We're flying from Manchester to Heathrow when we get to Heathrow will we have to check in again even though we are flying with the same company?
You can check in online for both flights 24 hours in advance. For PE on one leg you can still take extra bags on both legs.
Check bags in at Manchester (usually terminal 3) and you next see them in New York. Manchester security can sometimes be slow, especially in school holidays. Head to gate and hop on to flight.
Land in T5 at Heathrow and you're released into the terminal with no further checks. The BA flights usually leave from a different building in the terminal connected by monorail. So allow yourself 10 minutes for this in addition to the timescale you need to be at the fare before flight. If there's a short gap between flights don't get over-distracted by the shops.
On the way back home you will have to go through passport control, immigration and security at Heathrow before getting to your return flight. That's a little more stressful but in the unlikely event of excessive delay BA staff will push you through fast track or stick you on the next best flight to Manchester for no extra charge. While the recommended flight gap is usually an hour or so I'd suggest giving yourself two hours if flight availability allows.
If you haven't done so already, register all travellers to the Executive Club for Avios. You'll be pretty close to qualifying for a £35 return flight to Europe with the trip you're doing.0 -
I want to try to go up the Statue of Liberty and visit Ellis Island, can anyone advise the best way to go about this ?

Thanks Jackie,
I just had a quick look and thought $21 each was pretty cheap, I take it the ferry is on top of this ?
I've booked it for the two of us, so thats a fair bit of Wednesday 12th March taken care of !0 -
A couple of other questions came up when I was having a read:- - Is the New York pass worth it? Is there more than one option for this kind of thing? We want to do the standard tourist stuff, and definitely want to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, being a history geek!
- - In terms of Broadway tickets (looking at Jersey Boys atm, but again open to suggestions) are we better buying in advance or chancing it at one of the ticketing booths?
- - Knicks tickets. At home to the Bulls on the Sunday afternoon. I guess at the minute its looking like the play-offs could be a possibility (only because the East is horrific in terms of quality!) so will this drive prices up if we leave it closer to the time? Any viable and trustworthy alternatives to Ticketmaster (and there hiked up re!!!! tickets)?
Ubby
1 - No. The only one I can recommend is the Go Select Pass, as you choose the places you want to visit, and then get a discount. The NY Pass includes many many things that are not really NYC, but just tourist attractions, and many people have to rush around, miss seeing NYC, just to get value from the pass. Some people say they plan effectively, but I'm just not a fan.
2 - Depends on the show. Go onto the tkts website, and have a look at what is available. If after a few days of checking, your chosen show is there all the time, then you're probably going to be lucky, and be able to get tickets. Some shows always sell out, and they just won't be available, so those shows you have to book in advance for.
3 - Ticketmaster is the official seller, their secondary marketplace is ordinary ticket holders selling tickets, and the same goes for StubHub. Doubt you'll get a cheap ticket though.

The ferry is included.
We got the first ferry of the day, did SoL & Ellis Island then 9/11 Memorial (about 15 mins walk from Ferry) the same day, walked from 9/11 memorial to Wall St and Brooklyn Bridge.
