    - Is the New York pass worth it? Is there more than one option for this kind of thing? We want to do the standard tourist stuff, and definitely want to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, being a history geek!
    - In terms of Broadway tickets (looking at Jersey Boys atm, but again open to suggestions) are we better buying in advance or chancing it at one of the ticketing booths?
    - Knicks tickets. At home to the Bulls on the Sunday afternoon. I guess at the minute its looking like the play-offs could be a possibility (only because the East is horrific in terms of quality!) so will this drive prices up if we leave it closer to the time? Any viable and trustworthy alternatives to Ticketmaster (and there hiked up resale tickets)?

We went to see the Jersey Boys when we were there and purchased our tickets directly from the theatre box office. We had previously checked out the ticket booths but although they were offering very good seats with a substantial discount we got seats with a slightly restricted view for a lot less. The added advantage for us was that there wasn't a queue at the box office and they had time to show you a seating plan and advise on the best seats at that price.

If you are close to the theatre at any time it's worth seeing what is available. We did the same for Evita and were very pleased with the seats.
  • No doubt this has been covered but I'm struggling to find it in 354 pages. Cash points - any free ones. I have loaded a Fair FX Mastercard and imagine I will need to get some out with that at some point.
    Thanks.

I've mentioned it a few times in some posts and hopefully it is still the case as we are returning to NY in May.

The only bank I found in Manhattan that was free for atm withdrawals was TD Bank (which is the Canadian Toronto Dominion bank). There are plenty of branches on the major shopping avenues.

    TD Bank.

There are several branches in Manhatten. Google Maps will help you find them.

whilst this might not work in a mifi unit, it will give unlimited data for 30 days in an unlocked phone

That sounds like a plan ! Looking at memorial tickets just now.

I was put off by the book online and print for the 9/11 memorial tickets.
On a whim we were near by and just walked right in without a ticket reservation.

Apps that work in any city are probably the best. Crowd Sourced apps, so things like Yelp or FourSquare are great for finding things.

I have 2 apps. Embark and FourSquare. It means I can get around the city if I can't work out how to get there, and I can find things when I'm in a certain area.

Also, paper based maps, and guidebooks are a must. Apps do not replace this information but compliment it.
