Thanks Josie that would be fantastic, I've not been to New York since 2010 so I bet it has changed a lot but as it's also our Honeymoon I wanted to make it a bit more special.

Hi,
I've stayed at Roosevelt about 5 years ago and stayed at Novotel in 2011 & Dec 2013.
Out of these 2 I would choose The Novotel - it has recently been refurbished and is very modern! But I personally like the location, not just because it's close to Times Square but because it's close to lots of theatres too.
HTH
P.S I think all rooms ending 01 02 & 03 have a Times Square view!! 1902 definitely does!!Hi all
Looking for some advice. I've been to New York 3 times ... Twice stayed in Affinia Manhatten (pre renovations) and once in Essex House on Central Park Aveneue
I want to try another hotel but I'm a bit indecisive and have a few on the list. Going on St Patricks day too.
Booking on expedia and all the hotels I list below are within my price range. I just am spoilt for choice....if anyone would like to give me your thoughts if you have stayed at any of them (I don't mind the hustle and bustle of Times Square FYI).
- crowned Plaza times sq
- hotel metro
- st Giles hotel
- Novotel Times Square
- Affinia dumont
- millennium broadway
- the kitano
- the Roosevelt
- the Iroquois
- the Algonquin
- Affinia shelburne
- staybridge suites
We use the subway a lot while there so somewhere handy to go downtown. Would also like a room with a view ... I think it's the Novotel where you can choose a room between floors 21-34 or something like that. The hotel metro has breakfast included and is in a good distance to macys etc
I'm just pretty confused now. I'm probably leaning on the side of Novotel but I'd like to see others opinions first.
Would prefer a relatively spacious (I know this is New York however all 3 times I've been I've had a spacious room)...
Anyway, you guys have the floor now....l
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me0 -
We have booked 4 nights at the 'Affinia Dumont' via Expedia. Originally looked at Times Square but this had really good trip advisor reviews and big rooms as we are traveling with our 10 year old. We got 4 nights for £657 plus 12% quidco (£78) and double nectar points!! :j:j0

Booked 5 nights mid May at the Waldorf on park lane. Seems reasonable and fairly central. Hope to get a bit of sightseeing/shopping in between getting married lol.0

Hmm. 4th Trip? I'd spread your wings. Why are you looking only to book through Expedia? Have you looked at Quikbook which is an american website that has more boutique hotels on it?
There are a good chunk of hotels that Expedia doesn't offer, that will fit your bill of a bit more spacious, and a bit of a view, but it doesn't necessarily mean that will be midtown.
I have a wonderful view of Manhattan from my room, I can see the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, I have a park view, but I'm in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
What exactly is your hotel budget per night, and what are your exact dates? Without that, I can't search around and make some new recommendations.
I think you're much better off staying somewhere new, especially as you've been there 3 times already.

Hi
I'd like to stay in Manhattan again - I like the convenience, particularly as I have bad ankles and I can get quite tired quickly with my sore legs. I know there's the subway handy enough from Brooklyn but I do like to be in the thick of it all.
I've booked with expedia twice and just found it really handy to book hotel and flights together - both times it ended up being slightly cheaper. Flights from Dublin (I'm in Northern Ireland and Belfast is more expensive than Dublin) are a bit higher this time round and looking at hotels, it's just turned out a bit cheaper to book together.
I'm looking to go for 5 nights including a full St Patrick's day, so my dates are in and around 15th - 20th.
I've been searching expedia for some of the hotels I like (with flights) and the prices had slightly went up since last week. I actually searched earlier today and then again there now and they had got slightly cheaper again for some (for example, The Pierre was hovering around £1,000 this morning and now it's down to £886 (pp) - this is obviously including flights and then 5 nights at the Pierre).
Out of interest, I searched for deals for next week to see what prices are like one week before leaving and there's some great deals (in Expedia terms) .. the Roosevelt for 5 nights with flights was £660 (pp) - compared to £762 (pp) in March - I know it's not a great big difference but every little helps.
I'm wondering could I chance it and book it about a week and a half before we go. If I don't get a good deal, I'd not be too bothered as I'll definitely be going at some point this year but I would have loved to have went over St Patrick's day. I've searched for July, August, September, June, May and for 5 nights hotel and flights they are turning out around £1100-£1200 per person, whereas between 1-10weeks before they are turning out around £700-£900 (again, in Expedia terms). I don't know whether it's because the time of year or because it's relatively soon.
My head's pickled to be honest. I just wanna go. If I hadn't of made my Fiance change his work holidays to the week of St Patrick's day instead of next week, then I would have just went ahead and booked the Roosevelt for £660 next week .. whoops hehe0 -

Ooo interesting - I'm leaning on the side of Novotel at the minute to be honest.
Although I've stayed at the Affinia Manhattan twice and enjoyed it, now they have it refurbished, it looks the part and wouldn't mind checking it out but it is a bit dearer than Novotel/Roosevelt etc ...0 -
Has anyone stayed in the Upper West Side? I'm looking at NYLO now .. It looks great but I'm a bit hesitant by the location. I do like to be in the thick of things, i.e. Midtown .. but there's an excellent deal for NYLO 5 nights + flights for £556 per person .. hmm0

Heading to NYC on Monday for seven days! I am SO excited.
Got a fantastic deal, direct flights to Newark, cheap and cheerful hotel (only a place to rest your head really!) for 7 nights, total cost for my and my DH £1100!!!! Not too shabby if you ask me :T
Got a list as long as my arm of places I want to shop at and eat at. Booked a table at the Standard Grill one night.
Anybody got any good tips for cheap cosmetics over there? X0 -

What a bargain! I think we're paying £1400 alone for the hotel in November
