You know thats gonna change next time . We've had a long wait (nearly 2 hours) but normally just under a hour. Done Delta direct twice and AA(BA) direct too. I love flying but with my family i would always go for direct for time and transfers are a pain . I have fully charged i pod and a decent headphones .read the mag have a drink and crossed the pond . I remember on a delta flight there was a plane flight tracker screen in front of me that i couldnt take my eyes off (moved about every 20 minutes) most boring longest ever flight but i could stop watching it .

Cheers for replies! What does the Codedsharinng mean M4rk, I've seen it mentioned a couple of times. I dont mind one transfer but would prefer it to be london or dublin so might opt for the aer lingus. I'm going Friday 1st Nov until Friday 8th, flights have actually come down £20 or so since I started looking last week. I agree with the Philadelphia change over so I'll knock that one off the possibles.

Yes, in that case it does. Flying into JFK or LGA is a lot more logical for a stay in Long Island City, than EWR. If you flew into Newark, you'd go into Manhattan, then cross Manhattan to leave Manhattan and end up in Queens. Whereas with JFK or LGA, you'd travel through Queens to your hotel. Much more logical, and probably 35 mins from airport to hotel rather than 2 hours.

As for codeshares, what they are is an agreement between airlines. BA will advertise a direct flight from MAN - JFK, but as it is a codeshare, AA will also advertise the same flight, with the same times etc. What this flight is, is that AA are running the flight, and BA are sharing the flight with them. It looks like there are LOADS of flights leaving MAN - JFK when there actually is one. If it is direct with BA from MAN, you're actually on AA, which run small outdated planes with no seat back entertainment (though I never use it).

The UCB Comedy Club in the East Village is very good. Cheap tickets and lots of shows on.

It's been a long time since I've come on this thread, we went to New York in May 2010 and loved it.

We now want to go back for our honeymoon, but want to go for Christmas/ New year next year (2014) but it's obviously too early to look at flights and hotel for then so I've been looking at them for Christmas/New Year this year to get a rough guide of how much it will cost. From looking last night the flights wasn't so bad but the hotels were really expensive but we're looking at a fortnight to get Christmas day and New years eve in.

Hi Steph - Prices = look at thi years xmas to compare . In fact except for new hotels and bargain deals that the way to look for long term . Youve been before so have an idea where you want to stay (area wise)2 weeks at xmas anywhere is more expensive New York wowzer. Have you thought of splitting the holiday up and making good use of xmas day or boxing day cheap flights. i.e Miami or Canada then NYC . Great honeymoon
