And 19 mins to walk... Think we will be walking then- unless it is raining of course!! Then it will be totally worth it! :rotfl:

Thanks, I didn't think google would take into account rush hour (but I do know their Sat Nav version does- clearly not thinking!)

Well I am coming to NYC on Tuesday! But goin to Boston TOMORROW! :j

Don't have any questions apart from the one no-one answered. :rotfl:

Would it be worth taking a taxi from Penn Station to Affinia Shelburne on Lexington Ave (think its around 39st without looking) at 6pm? How bad is rush hour? Would it be just as quick to walk it?
(Not taking subway with bags at rush hour- I hate people who do that!! :rotfl: )

Have a wonderful time! Walking would be fine, depends how tired you are though. I think I would take a Taxi or a Bus - Its a lovely hotel, hope you enjoy your stay and the city!

Ok.. How about celeb spotting in NYC - Who have you seen?

    I'll start
Richard Thomas (Johnboy Walton) - Times Square

All in the same day, on a separate trip:
Frank Lampard Jnr - Meatpacking district
    Tinie Tempah - Soho
    Alice Cooper - Union Square

A game I'm particularly hopeless at as I rarely know who any of these people are.
I wouldn't recognise Frank Lampard Jnr or Tinie Tempah if I fell over them.

Without knowing which airport and which hostel / where it is, that's an impossible question.

There are 'shuttle services', which are basically minibuses. They're not particularly recommended, as you may go all round the houses and not make much saving over a taxi.

Is there a reason why your son can't use a taxi or research the public transport options?
