I stumbled across a website where people report hotels where they've been infested and I wish I hadn't, it's starting to put me off staying anywhere!

We will be starting a 2 week multi-stop trip in NY next July, if we did pick anything up we could then pass it on to the other 5 or 6 places we'll be staying  and I really don't want to be bringing them home with us either!:eek:2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

To be honest I don't think the hotel choice is going to change. Because of the kiddly peeps our needs are a bit different. We need a kitchen or kitchenette, and the luxury for us of having a bad each is the icing on the cake.
Planning on having breakfast in the room where possible to save on a little cash.
At least once, head out of the hotel, and onto 3rd Ave, cross over, and you have ess-a-bagel there, and they do some of the best bagels in NYC.0 -

If it is a decent hotel, they sort out the problem. The main issue isn't that NYC is "infested" but that tourists such as the likes of you and me, take the bedbugs for a ride, and leave them there.
I've never found a single bedbug in any of the hotels that I've stayed in. If I actually looked at the "bed bug register" then I'd probably fine scaremongering and stories from people who had millions of the critters etc etc. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.
How they hitch a ride is normally on fabric suitcases, hard sided ones they can't stay on.

Thanks
I know you're right, it's just one of those things that now I've seen it I wish I hadn't.
We've been to the USA a number of times and stayed at dozens of different hotels in several different states. I know we could have had the same problem at any one of those places. Maybe we've just been lucky up until now.
I will be totally paranoid about it nowuntil we arrive home, still un-infested .

Hi I am looking at flights from Edinburgh to Newark. Been keeping an eye on them for a few months now. Looking to go in February 2012. Went in April (more expensive than Feb) 2 years ago and it cost us £333 going on a Friday. Looking to book Thursday (as it's cheaper) to Monday and the cheapest I can get direct just now is £422. Today it's gone up to £546!
I tried going so far with a booking on Continental website to see the availability and there seems to be over 90 seats free (does anyone know if that's reliable?) so I am checking lots of different comparison websites every day. I'm hoping the prices will come down after Christmas. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.0 -
