hey! :) been loosely following this thread... just wondered if i'd read this right? you can clear US immigration in Dublin??

(sorry if i've completely mis-read that)

That's right, and US Customs, too. Dublin airport or Shannon airport, for flights departing either airport that go directly to a US airport.

It's excellent. When you arrive in the US you just collect your bags and out you go. No queuing, no messing.

Personally it has never taken me more than 10 mins to clear immigration in JFK, but maybe I am lucky

It's taken me 20 minutes to get out of the airport before. Last time 40, and then on an internal flight with JetBlue, 45, because of the wait for luggage. It's so hit and miss.

I think it also depends on what terminal you land, and time of day.

Anyway... Back to work for me. not going to be around much for the next 2 weeks as I'm in hotels and internetless...

It will always depend on the situation when you land. However, the horror stories I heard before I arrived of 2+ hours to get through have not happened in my experience.
  • hi folks, have decided last minute to book for 6 nights from either 26th or 27th of august, currently viewing Club Quarters World Trade Center. My query basically is has anyone stayed in this hotel and is £1400 reasonable or could i do better elsewhere. I'll be travelling alone so happy to stay anywhere in manhattan.

is the £1400 for the hotel or hotel + flight?

given that you have'nt said where you will be flying from or who you want to fly with I cant do a direct comparrison, however with expedia LHR to JFK out 26/08 back 01/09 staying at club quarters is £1222 flying with AA, also the potential for quidco and nectar points

Gosh i'm daft< got so excited i just hit the button and booked it!! i'm flying direct from Belfast to Newark, our only direct route, and hopefully i'v followed my gut instinct and the hotel is up to a good standard.:rotfl: oh and the price is for flight and hotel through expedia. Is it possible to reclaim Nectar points after booking?

Flights from Belfast are expensive cos of the Tax...I'm from Belfast but me and mum are travelling down to Dublin (on the eircom coach) for our flights....means we also go through U.S Customs here too...got 5 nights - flights and hotel for two of us for £1580.... staying in a 4.5* on Central Park - albeit that is from 1st Sep - 6th...

    Hope you have fun - I can't wait to go - only 2 weeks -- eeekkkk:j:j
