Normally games last 3 hours. Last game I went started at 8pm (thanks ESPN!), and lasted til about 20 past midnight, though three hours is the norm, Yours seemed to be bang on the right time, as first pitch would have been 7:05pm.0 -

sorry if that sounds negative but that was just my personal opinion after visiting myself
You won't put me off. I've done both the museums before but I haven't done either of them for a long time. I get to London fairly regularly but only visit NYC once in a blue moon so it will definitely be on the list.0 -

Prices can vary day by day, week by week. As there are 2 fashion weeks in NYC every year, it is hard to guess which one you're going to. If you're going in Feb, it's going to be cheaper than September. http://nycfashioninfo.com/fashion-week.aspx

I just wanted to add my thanks for this thread - just returned from USA which included five nights in New York. Someone might find some of the following useful:
-We stayed at the Jewel, booked via hotels.com and Quidco (no confirmation of cashback yet). Hotel was great; right opposite Rockefeller centre on quiet street; free internet; free chilled water available with bottles to refill - this was great since the summer heat was a lot to cope with and we didn't have to immediately seek out drinks on leaving the hotel.
-We still bought lots of drinks and found one large Duane Read (chemist) which had an extensive selection of flavoured iced teas, some lager-sized cans for 79c or so.
-Got a Halifax Clarity card and pretty much used it exclusively except for small cash purchases. Was slightly taken aback to find that your card is swiped and handed back immediately, then you sign the receipt. Sometimes I wasn't even asked for a signature.
-We went to the Bodies exhibition at South Street Seaport and at the entrance was a display of mini-cards advertising attractions and shops. Some had discounts - one for 20% off USS Intrepid (which we'd already done). I hadn't noticed such displays until then, but worth keeping an eye out for.
-We often look to buy bread, ham etc. to make up sandwiches, but found this harder than expected (and the choices limited). Meals seemed about same price as UK (drinks and desserts perhaps better). We ate a lot in attractions (spent a day each in AMNH and Intrepid).
-I don't understand the attraction of Times Square.
-We got 7-day subway passes which seemed good value and used this exclusively when not walking. We would have walked more but the heat beat us. The subway stations could be very unpleasant in the heat (worse than Tube), but the trains were wonderfully air-conditioned when they arrived.
-City was subject to sudden, *intense* evening rain showers. Take an umbrella since the last thing you want to do on a hot, sticky evening is put on a plasticky rain mac!
Our trip wasn't particularly money-saving (we normally do UK camping), but we spent on unique tourist attractions and had no interest in shopping. We subsequently went to DC and the free museums were very welcome!0 -
