Other maybe more obscure things I've done or doing.
Queens Museum - The Panorama. This is a great exhibit, which is a scale model of NYC. You can see the 2 airports, all the buildings, bridges, take some binoculars!! And you get to see the Unisphere before you get to the museum too!! http://www.queensmuseum.org/
Museum of the Moving Image - They do have a Jim Henson exhibit on right now... gotta love Kermit - http://www.movingimage.us
Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is in Manhattan - http://www.moccany.org/
Brooklyn Museum - not obscure, but a great museum to visit, double it up with a trip to the Botanical Gardens, and then Prospect Park.
That should keep you busy for a few days..

Ooo I'm so excited - 4 weeks today.....
Need to start thinking about an Itinerary... have done loads of things in New York so I'm thinking of places that I've maybe not explored as much such as Brooklyn, Greenwich, Soho etc... though I'm with my mum and she is just in love with all the touristy things as well as shopping.... thinking of going to a basketball game too if there is any...
I'm just annoyed I haven't lost much weight before goingcos so many clothes I would like to buy when there!!

Geeky Fact. Brooklyn is in New York. It's a borough, Greenwich and Soho are in New York, they're neighbourhoods of Manhattan.Joking aside, if your mum wants to go shopping, tell her Soho is great. there is a bloomingdales there, Sephora for make up and perfume, loads of chic designers stores, plus nice restaurants and bars too.
Brooklyn - well that is 5 times the size of Manhattan, so if you want to do touristy things there, you've got the Museum and Botanical Gardens, around Park Slope, plus then you've got the Brooklyn Brewery on Friday nights which is in Williamsburg, loads of vintage shopping in Williamsburg too!
Basketball ? nope. wrong time of year, you've got baseball...

The following are already on my potential list. I say potential because I haven't got to them in the Rough Guide yet but they've already hit my radar:
The Police Museum
The Fire Museum
The NYC Transit Museum
Museum of Moving Image
The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens
Other ones I am considering are the Forbes Collection and the Historical Society of New York Museum but I will bundle that in with Central Park/Museum of Natural History.
No offence to some people :embarasse But can think of 1001 better things to do in New York than to go shopping. I never did get the concept of going to New York *just* to go shoppiing, for example long Christmas shopping weekends (obviously fitting in shops between doing other things is different).
I can see me going back even after this visit to see everything I want to see0 -

I know all about New York and it's boroughs and sizes - I did a full market research report on New York City....I know all the boroughs, their populations, their social issues, government - a lot of stuff......I was saying that I've done a lot in new york but stating the places in the city where I maybe haven't explored as much ......Prob just worded it wrong
Anyway - thanks for the suggestions - she will definitely love SoHo then - we went to Bloomingdales the first time we were in New York...she loved it so I'll def take her back there.. and I'd definitely love to go to Sephora...Thanks for the heads up about the basketball! Unfortunately mum doesn't want to go to a baseball game - though I might take the trip myself...

Hi all, was planning to go in april ( 3 of us) but got email from Travelbag today advertising Holiday Inn Midtown ( 57th st) for £669 and Wellington (7th Av at 55th) for £589. All p person inc flights for 5 nights in MARCH. Wellington goes up to £1449 in april, so a huge hike there. I am now considering going in march, obviously, but is the weather going to be a drawback? I've read its likely to be rainy & possibly no more than 10 C. Now, I dont like it hot & humid, but I was thinking of not having to wrap up too much. Any experiences? Please share!:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

When are you considering travelling in March?
We went on 18th March and the weather was chilly at times, but not unbearable. We went the first week in April and it was chilly in the mornings, but by the afternoons it was sooo hot it was amazing.0
