Are you checking out the flights on www.kayak.co.uk?
The flights that come up aren't always available - you do need to click through to check they've not all been sold, but they do give a pretty good idea of the cost.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Hi, Me and OH are stopping off at NY on the way home from a trip to Florida. We arrive 3pm on a sunday in jun then leave 7pm on the tues. So hardly any time at all!
But would like to see something of NY, any tips on what's a must-see/do or a central, bargainous hotel would be really appreciated!..I do kind of have to go to Tiffany's ;-)0 -
Flight is a great price, and i'm sure you're flying to EWR (EWK is Newton, Kansas)
Cosmo is expensive, however, after the 1st weekend in september, the hotel prices do jump up, I'm sure you can get that cheaper..
Weather in Sept is lovely...
Haha yes i did mean EWR... Typo
.
Thanks Mark, will keep looking for the hotel.. Do the prices rise for any particular reason?0 -
Roses - breakfast is crap, worth nothing.. you can get a bagel and a coffee for $2 at a corner deli.....
the rate you got at club quarters is cheap. it's close to subways, beer, i mean bars, restaurants etc... I've not stayed there, but I know the area, as the Cosmo/ Tribeca is close by
For Long Island City (LIC), $150 before tax is about right, however do keep your eyes peeled on things like travelzoo and quikbook.... You can go to Queensboro Plaza Station on the subway and you're only 1 stop into NYC.... perfect really......
M
Thanks for that. Would you recommend paying a little extra to stay in central Manhattan then?0 -
Hi All
After reading the whole of this thread and a fair bit of #2 I thought I would give our Itinerary.
Flying from Heathrow With Virgin on the 10.30am fligh (VS003) landing at 13.30ish. Will be staying over and leaving car the night before flight at the Renassence (bargin price room with parking and upgrade to club level)
Anyway. Landing at JFK at approx 13.30 then getting Cunard Transfer to Hotel.
Not to sure what time we are expecting to arrive at hotel (Marriot Marquis in Time Square), but am hoping that we might be able to get out for an hour or 2 before tiredness kicks in. Any suggestions on what we can do for couple of hours here??????
We then have 5 nights in New York and our must see/do list is as follows but is in no particular order.
Empire State Building
Top of the Rock
Macy's
Tiffany's
FAO Shwartz (prob wrong spelling)
pop into Central Park
China Town
Statten Island Ferry
Helicopter Flight
Harbour Cruise (poss the 3 hour round whole island one)
World Trade Centre Site
Brooklyn Flea
Shopping
Shopping
Shopping
Want to do the Gray Line Bus Tours too
And have applied for a Greeter too but got to wait and see for that one
Prob have left loads off, but thats what came to mind just now.
Oh We fly out on 7th October.
Will prob need to get a limo/car booked for getting us from Marriot Marquis to Red Hook on 12th October. Want a limo but they wont take us cos of having 6 cases between the 2 of us. Any suggestions on this one would be good.
Think thats it.

I have been there on business and its an absolute nightmare when you are working there. The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -
Quikboom have the bedford hotel at $149 p/n, anybody stayed there or know what it's like?0

I agree with M4rk, when you get there, have a wander around in central park, grab some dinner and then think about going to bed. When i went last march we got to out hotel at 2:30 pm, went to bed around 9ish and were up at 4am!!!0
