weather similar to ours summer a little hotter winter a little colder so sept late summer early autumn will be ok t-shirt day jumper jacket evening with rain &showers . Who knows the $995 hotel is between you so 2x £300 flight= £600 + £650 for hotel = £1250 / 2 = £625 each good price anytime great price for end sept in decent hotel
HAYNAT1 try kayak for your flights in fact try expedia or lastminute . com ect and get a feel of areas and prices inc different hotels go to trip advisor and have a look at the top hotels in areas that interest you . If you want to see most of the big touristy stuff and be central look between mid central park to flatiron areas. Most places are walkable or subwayable or cabable from there to downtown uptown etc
Staying outside manhattan is cheaper brooklyn, newJersey and fairly easy to jump a train into NYC do some reserch first and tell us what youve found and thoughts youve got . GOOD luck NYC is a great city to get around:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Roses there are sites in NYC where you can book a room last minute for a better deal our is laterooms.com try that not sure if USA does this but qwikbook & hotelconnexions do.CLEVER PEOPLE WITH PROPER JOBS WILL BE HERE SOON TO HELP YOU MOPRE.
World trade center memorial site is a building site ATM but people have stayed there without problems you are not far from anywhere and within walking to Brooklyn bridge -South seaport-battery park - Ferries to Ellis Isle and Statue of Liberty Trains/cabs/buses to Midtown and uptown. If you dont want to go to queens im sure you can get half decent midtown within your budget but you will get more outside NYC but spend money and time traveling Good Luck Enjoy NYC:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
my daughter is returning to england after three years in ny, she's not happy.
anyway its going to happen v soon. she needs to ship 4 boxes of personal items.
what is the cheapest way to do this. any advice would be great.0 -
$150 for a peak period is a low to average budget. Also, tell us WHAT hotel you've found near the Trade Center (it's not a memorial site, they are building a new Trade Center, also it isn't ground zero, it's simple the Trade Center)
There are a couple of hotels in Queens that are recommended as they're only 1 stop into Manhattan, again, what have you found.

Hi, I booked The Verve Hotel with a jacuzzi in the room, wifi and breakfast included 4 nights at $700 inc all taxes via their website.

Then I booked Club Quarters World Trade Centre for £180 for 3 nights inc all taxes via hotels.com., again that includes breakfast and wifi
http://www.clubquarters.com/loc_WTC.aspx
Both are cancellable rates so if a better hotel comes up then I can change the hotel with no penalty.
Are there better areas to stay around the same price range? I am not too bothered about the wifi and breakfast although it is a fantastic bonus.0 -
Remember to factor in the expense of getting from Bristol to LHR, which will vary depending on whether you also need an overnight stay in order to catch your outgoing flight. Also think about whether you will be able to drive home safely after the flight.
If I'd done my research properly we might have flown to and from Bristol, but we ended up staying with the in-laws a night before and after our holiday. It actually worked very well because we got to share all about the holiday while we were still excited, but the logistics of getting the five of us, plus luggage, to and from their house was 'interesting' to say the least, and not cheap.
We live in Cardiff, so flying from Bristol rather than a London airport will knock about 4 hours off the time it takes to get to the airport and £90 off the cost of doing so. We are mentally scarred by one long, smelly delayed national express airport shuttle too manyand i dont think either of us would much fancy driving home after such a 'long' flight.

How long is a piece of string question alert
places in new york describe themselves as being 2 blocks away from X, 5 blocks away from Y.... how long does it take you to walk a block approximately?
We are not adverse to walking, but being realistic if we are on a tight schedule and would get more done by using public transport then that's what we'll do0 -

28th - 5th May - Bristol - £364 each - Continental
28th - 5th May - London Heathrow - £291 each - American Airlines
28th - 5th May - Cosmo Hotel - Hotel Conxions - $1291.75 = £849.83
Cheapest = £1431.83
From Bristol = £1577.83
(exchange rate of $1.52 = £1 used)
OOOOOOH I've worked stuff out for a full week / 7 night stay... obviously, it'll be cheaper if you stay less nights, the flight prices are much of a muchness though if you shift it one or 2 days in either direction, but INCLUDE A SATURDAY NIGHT

unless i'm being dense and missing something very obvious, I cant get return flights on continental (from Bristle) for anywhere near the £364 you quoted. £3-400 pp each way yes, but not return trips. By my maths, I need to add in the region of another £800 to the figures you've quoted.
please tell me I'm being blonde!0
