Of course its touristy but, for a first timer in the city, its a bit of fun. All I can say is I had my birthday brunch there and they spoilt me rotten. When my server found out it was my birthday she got the whole restaurant to sing to me - poor people who'd just come in for a quiet bite!
Also if you're thinking of a show, its next door to the Mamma Mia theatre.

But if we're talking Broadway shows then the best is of course Lion King (book ASAP- you will not get tickets from TKTS) and then of course next door to the LK theatre is the best cheesecake in the city - JUNIOR'S!!!
Tip - make sure you all order a different flavour as the choice is huge and they are all so tempting.

agree and i cant think of going there for a quiet meal its pure theatre

You mean all those free drinks you blag on your birthday and you've never been sung to by a bar full of strangers? I'd soon rectify that if I was with you! :rotfl:

We did the bus tour and for us we found it incredibly useful and a good way of taking a look at areas we may otherwise have missed. We made notes of places we thought we would like to go back to and did just that. Without doing the bus tour we would have missed out possibly. They can be slow but its still a good way to see loads.

We also ate in Times Square one night and whilst it was not the best meal we had, we just wanted to do it so I say go for it if that's what you fancy.

Tribeca Grill is gorgeous, but might be a little pricey

Thanks M4RKM - good to read a positive comment about Mr DeNiro's place as I've got lunch reserved there for the end of March.
