You can prebook and prepay, but I never have. I've just paid cash on the day, that way I've been able to take advantage of the DISCOUNTS!!!!

    http://www.carmellimo.com/coupon2.htm

This gives you $4 off the fare, but you've got to do it correctly. When you're going through the booking process, on the last screen, where it shows you the Trip Review, at the bottom it shows a

I am using discount coupon! tick box.

Tick it, it reminds you it is the $4 one you need to use, and then gives you a 3 digit code. You print out the coupon, and use the discount. Now, I've got no idea if this coupon works with credit card, as I've never tried it! Also, there is a $3 discount for any other trip, so use that TO the airport.

You may be able to check in online, I have been able to with Delta, and US Airways, but I've known CO not allow online check in for international flights. And me, shout? naaa.. I've had a good day today.

    Hi Guys

I am a complete novice here and have only been abroad once since my parents stopped taking me :D

You all seem really knowledgable, i have read through a lot of the new york and flight threads but still seem to be getting really high prices so was wondering if you could help me.

Myself and my husband are looking to go to New york from any scotland airport leaving any day between 31st july, 1st or 2nd of august for 5 nights, these are really the only days we can fly as in laws are taking kids for a few days which doesnt happen often.

I have looked at packages and also buying flights and hotel seperate and also looking at single fares instead of returns but still cant get anything near the prices you guys are finding.

    Please help

    Thank you, Natalie

We've found flights from LHR to EWK on Sep 23rd - Sep 28th with Delta/Virgin for £300 each. Is that good?

Also, been looking at hotels and we can stay in the Cosmo (Mark's fave) for $995 for both of us. Can't remember the conversion to pounds,.

So is this a good deal? Also, how long would the transfer take from Newark to Manhatten? I've only flown into JFK before.

If you look back up the thread you'll see Marks response to somebody else about getting into Manhatten from Newark. When we were there last year we used the airtrain from the terminal and then a train into Penn Station, took less than an hour. You buy a through ticket at the terminal and there was an employee there who explained what we needed to do.

    Really easy, honestly.
  • @KayJ066 £300 is a good price for a direct flight NYC these days.

$995 is about £650, so that's about £130 per night, which is about the right price for a decent Manhattan hotel.
    "Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Hi, my boyfriend and I are going to New York next month for 1 week over Easter. As hotels are quite expensive we though about staying in 2 different hotels in 2 different areas.

We have booked a hotel next to the World Trade Centre memorial site for 3 nights.

We were thinking of Queens for 4 nights as the hotels are the same price but you seem to get more for your money. I was looking at hotels about $150/night.

Can a decent hotel in Manhattan be found for that much because I am having real trouble finding anything that looks remotely decent :(
