We don't lol :D OK maybe Mark does... ;)

Are those flights direct? Sounds like a good price me.. What are the flight times?

Are you looking for flights and also hotel? try lastminute.com for a package - they dont have your exact dates a couple of days before/after 5 nights 4* hotel for between £750-£850 worth a look if your dates are flexible

    Hope this helps

That is a cheap price! Actually, it's £5 over the cheapest price I can find for a direct flight, and about £30 over the price of an indirect flight. You are travelling over 3000 miles, so this is cheap.

You could go LHR - JFK - AMS - LCY, and get flights for £415, but for the £10 saving it probably isn't worth it.

The only other thing you could look at is a packaged deal from the likes of Expedia, and see if they work out to be good. Post back here before you book, because looking at one "deal" it's still cheaper to book separately. (£1508 vs the package price of £1563)

I've stayed at the Beacon twice now, the last time just a couple of months ago, and would always recommend this hotel.

The rooms are very clean, and honestly have the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! The little kitchen area in the room comes in very handy, and there is an amazing market (Fairways) right over the road.

72nd street subway station is just a couple of blocks away (don't bother with taxis, there really is no need), and you're about 10 minutes walk to Central Park. There is also a Starbucks on the next corner which is great for free wi-fi (especially if you need a facebook fix like me!), as you have to pay to use the wi-fi in the hotel.

The Viand cafe next door is great for food, if slightly expensive, but the portions are MASSIVE. We treated ourselves to the 'Lumberjack' breakfast on our last day (pancakes, sausages and eggs) which was delicious but impossible to finish!

Let me know if you want any more info - you've chosen a great hotel :T

Just the sort of response I was hoping for:). Thanks very much.

I do have a question that I have being thinking about for a while actually. We will obviously be over there for New Years Eve so will need to plan our night. We don't want to do Times Square and ideally would like to have a nice meal and drinks somewhere (just two of us going). I'd imagine leaving it untill we get there and booking in somewhere would be next to impossible and wondered if anyone could recommend a nice restaurant.

Alternatively any different suggestions for New Years Eve would be welcome.

    Hi there

    Try Groupon NYC http://status.groupon.com/subscriptions/new?division_p=new-york

I have seen some good deals in the past for restaurants, cocktails and sightseeing.

Also log onto Timeout NYC - Lots of useful info on there

I'm booked. September 16th for a week, staying in Brooklyn in a nice shared rental. Flying with American Airlines this time, as they were cheaper than Delta. £453 for a direct flight from MAN, which is around the same price as I paid last year from LHR, so that's a good price. Now I just need to decide what to do for a week.... :D

Advice appreciated please. We are going to New York for 5 nights on 18th June and are thinking of staying at the new Yotel Times Square. Does anyone have thoughts re this as a location and place to stay. the y(hotel) looks unusual but is well priced

Just noticed this has got missed. It's a brand new hotel, which is still scheduled to open on the 7th June. The bargain rates are there so they can iron out some teething problems.

The buzz is about their outdoor areas, the roof bar, which should be buzzing. As for the location. It's not bad, a little bit out of a way from the nearest subway station as it is over on 10th Ave, and not really near Times Square per se, ("The Times Square proximity thing is kind of a stretch, if you ask us" - quoted from - http://m4rk.in/kUYHyZ), and you have to pay the Yobot to store your luggage upon checkout, though it's only $2.

Other good things are fresh coffee on each floor, (free?), and the biggest outdoor bar space in NYC. Read more on Hotel Chatter - http://m4rk.in/iMnlrd

It's large (over 600 rooms) and somewhat impersonal, as check in is all automated, so there will be less staff around, than say a normal hotel, but hey, it's cheap!
