Did you book the tours in advance online or just when you got there? we're wondering if its worth booking in advance. Thr tour looks good, i'm sure we'll use all the things offered

Thanks Phatbear - the TA mentioned it being thanksgiving. It's not much more to go for a week, but I'm not sure we could've afforded to eat for a week in NY.

    Hi there

Do consider a week if you can - I think you can have a good time on a budget, but I guess it depends what you are wanting to eatwhilst there.

For me usually after a large breakfast of pancakes etc I skip lunch as I am full or have a small snack and have an good evening meal which can be as cheap or expensive as you want. Any snacks for the hotel etc are bought from a grocery store/chemist like Duane Reade.

I have ranged from having expensive dinners to a Mc Donalds for dinner and have been please with all choices especially the 'big mac sauce' you can ask for on the side!

On another junk food note they even had 2 Whoppers for $4 at Burger King

no we were walking upto times square and there are sellers in yellow jackets flogging tickets every where

the tour is great we were there for 5 days but the 3 day tour was brill and some of the guides giving commentary were excellent and funny with it with this price you can also do nighttime brooklyn tour and there is a an ellis islannd ferry for free .not the statue of liberty
we got the 90 minute cruise from between 42 and 43 street just west of times square it was brill took you down the Hudson towards battery park and up the east river under the Brooklyn and George Washington bridge took nearly 1800 pics in new york and some of the best are on the ferry .then down to liberty statue and stop right in front of it absolutely amazing

Flights are booked, but want to hold back forking out more money until closer to our stay (End of October). Can anyone recommend any good websites or hotels where I can book and maybe pay the majority of the cost up to a month before the stay rather than now? Budget is up to £150 per night.

Also any views on The Marcel at Gramercy or Ink48?

    Thanks

Edit: Booked the Hotel Beacon through Booking.com (great trip advisor rating). Discount available, no fee paid and free cancellation policy. Can now keep my eyes peeled on here looking for a better deal.
