Soooo excited finally booked my trip - Flying out 12th December for 7 nights.

Now need to start looking at things to do!!

With it being a really busy time of year should i be booking thing before I go? e.g. Shows, TOTR, Statue of Liberty???

If you want to do the SOL crown then I would book tickets as soon as - I left it till 6 weeks before and can't get any, have only managed to get them for the pedestal on a day and time I didn't really want , gutted about not getting crown tickets

On the question of the Statue of Liberty & Ellis island , if you don't want to go round the Statue but stay on the ferry to Ellis island to do the tour is it important to book early ? my wife and i are going on the 18th of May for 6 days so would we need to start thinking of booking them now?

My advise would be to book in advance if you know you definitely want to visit the Island. This gives you the best opportunity of securing the time slot most suitable to you.

I'd recommend the Reserve Ticket which allows you priority entry to security check-in which saves you wait time. *If you select 2pm you will only be able to visit one of either: Liberty Island or Ellis Island, due to time limitations. Times bookable from 9am. Ferries back from the islands also tend to get busier the later it gets in the day so an early ferry across is adviseable.

It is possible to do the SOL and both islands in a day but allow plenty of time approx 5hrs+. I think its excellent value for money and you don't want to regret going up the Statue when you get so close :(, Think carefully before you book.

Enjoy your holiday. I'm dead jealous.

Hello, I'd be ever so grateful if anyone could help please, I'm taking my boyf away for his birthday next month(!) of course need to book the flight ASAP, just wondering if I'm missing any discount tricks? I've gone through skyscanner etc

The Quote itself: £656.69 inc. pp (£1313.38 total)
    The Airline: Delta (through Ebookers)
    The departure Airport: Manchester
The Holiday Dates: 16th April - 22nd April
The number of people travelling: 2
Is an in-flight meal included: Yes (but not bothered about these)
Any specific requirements: Am happy with Birmingham or Manchester Airport (or any other close to Midlands) but not London please
We want to fly out on the 16th or 17th (if there's a big price difference), but we must be back by early morning the 23rd April.

These flights leave Manchester 16th April at 11.05am, arrive JFK at 13.55pm and return 22nd April at 19.40pm, arriving Manchester on the 23rd at 8.10am

They are direct, which isn't crucial, but is preferable of course

I have an AMEX card if that helps as I know some airlines offer discounts, I also use Quidco and Topcashback

    Thank you so much

(I keep posting this in the wrong place, hopefully this is ok!)

ouch! £650 is not a bargain for a flight to NYC, but it seems to be the price airlines want to charge from Manchester. IMO it is pennywise but pound foolish to ignore London. Direct flights for your dates from London are £525, so the saving is £250. You will save money by flying from London, even when you factor in the cost of travelling there, and maybe a hotel the night before. I live in Wakefield, and fly from LHR at times, because it works out cheaper, and more often than not, I travel solo. With there being 2 of you, the saving is even greater.

Check the airlines websites themselves, the three airlines that fly direct from Manchester are Delta and American through to JFK, and Continental, to Newark, which is in New Jersey, but may be convenient depending on where you're staying.

It won't be any cheaper to move your dates to not include a saturday night, and as your dates are so fixed, I can't think of anything else to suggest to reduce your price. One thing to note, as you're flying a scheduled flight, not charter, you're always going to get baggage allowance and meals included.

I was just wondering if any MSErs had been to any Burlesque Clubs in NYC? I've been a couple of times in London and really enjoyed it. Would love to take OH when we're there in September.

The Slipper Room seems to be getting some good reviews. Can anyone confirm / deny / give other recommendations?
