2 Weeks Monday for me! :D

Are there any good food/farmers markets? I've read of a few but can anyone recommend any? Something like borough market etc in london would be nice!

I'm planning to visit the Chelsea Market - www.chelseamarket.com
    Lots of yummy looking stalls!

Hi - got 10 days coming up at the Waldorf for the Easter holidays.

Are there any dress codes or will jeans get me in anywhere? I always dress smartish but always jeans if I can help it? Same question applies to wife and 2 daughters, many thanks in advance. What about eg. the hotel bar?

Apologies if this has been posted before.

    Many thanks.

    Thx very much M4RKM,

sorry if I sound a bit picky but my concern is the noise as I am a light sleeper and have read a couple of reviews that say Hampton Inn in Soho is noisy for being so close to the Holland Tunnel and also in TripAdvisor some reviewers mentioned that it is also noisy. Obviously I know I am not in the country side and will have to deal with some level of noisse being in the middle of a big city, but just want to make sure it is not much. Our budget is around $250 per night.

    Thx for your help

Think of it like London -In the city centre noise is inevitable. "The city that never sleeps" isn't just a song line ! Pack earplugs if you are sensetive to it -although after a day walking the NYC streets you'll probably be so tired you won't notice any noise.:)

We stayed out in East Rutherford -was soooooo quiet compared with Manhattan -and 20 mins on the bus to W 42nd Street. Quarter of the price and guaranteed quiet-maybe something to consider. (I've stayed in some of the top hotels in Manhattan and you will get some siren noise etc in the wee small hours wherever you stay)

    i hope so!
i read some reviews on trip advisor and the theme seems to be they get a couple of bad reviews and then someone writes a nice review saying dont listen to the bad reviews the hotel is fine, always think anyway most people only feel the urge to write about something if they feel they need to moan, so their may be loads of people who had great stays in those hotels and just didnt think to write about it.

    going monday to friday
i'm trying to pland my itineriary for my full 3 days, so far i have
    tues:
rockafella totr hoping to go for sunset
    central park zoo
    museum of natural history

    weds:
magnolia bakery on bleeker - SATC fans will understand :D
    greenwich village
and maybe go to NYU to have a wonder round there, went to harvard when i was in boston and the shop there was really cool

    thurs:
    staten island ferry liberty cruise
    brooklyn bridge

anybody got any places they want to recommend i try fit in? or anything you would so a bit differently? im open to all suggestions
i also wanted to leave a bit of time each day to just wonder around and see what i come across

    Where are you staying?

I am a huge SATC fan, but didn't think much of the bakery. Carrie's doorstep is not far from there at all its on Perry Street if you are interested in going

Union square is a great place to walk around too

I second this! We only discovered this a few hours before we left so only got a quick look as we walked through. Definately check this out though :)

I grabbed some cupcakes from their stall in the Grand central station food court bit. Watched one of the girls do some icing of cakes etc. Not really sure I'd be that bothered about going to the main bakery location to be honest. The cakes were lovely though :j

anyone been to The View restaurant please? Booked my daughter and her friend in as they wanted to go out for a nice evening meal where they could get a bit dressed up and just wondering if anyone has any comments on it please.

Alternatively, are there any good modern restaurants they could go for dinner - they are both 19.

    Thanks
