sound like fun . I agree with the lion king. I has to be good its on broadway its been there for ages . The Minskoff is one of the best for views and atmosphere. When the animals come down at the start you know your on for a show ( i cried (almost)did really)and the stamped needs to be seen.If you have time getting lost can be good

  • Hi,

planning to go a week to NYC with the mrs in May for a "kids free" break, and was looking to go to the Hampton Inn Manhattan-Soho. Can anyone comment on the area for bars, restaurants, etc? Any other hotel suggestions.

    Thx

"Effective October 1, 2010 and lasting through March 31, 2011, statewide sales and use tax exemption for clothing and footwear sold for less than $110 will be eliminated. For New York City, this means article of clothing costing less than $110 will now be charged 4.375% tax. A state sales tax exemption for clothing and footwear under $55 will be reinstated from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012. The original ($110) exemption will be reinstated after March 31, 2012"

    Ermmmm what???

I will have a stab at answering your question but given that i dont understand it I may not actually be helping.

Nothing in NY will show the price including sales tax which is a tad frustrating as you constantly have to keep working prices out.

It depends when you are going to NY regarding sales tax on clothes as you can see from my previous post.

    Hope this helps

Soho is awesome for bars and restaurants, and you could just wander around the streets, and find somewhere. Some of the places I like, still within walking distance, are in Greenwich Village.

The added benefit of this area, is, that it is where people live, so it's where people go out to eat and drink, prices are slightly lower, than areas aimed at tourists. (yes, I sound like a broken record)

Without knowing your budget, there are some other hotels in the same kinda area you could look at, the Mondrian Soho ($240 a night opening offers), Holiday Inn Soho (just down the road from the Mondrian).

    Hope that helps

  • Thx very much M4RKM,

sorry if I sound a bit picky but my concern is the noise as I am a light sleeper and have read a couple of reviews that say Hampton Inn in Soho is noisy for being so close to the Holland Tunnel and also in TripAdvisor some reviewers mentioned that it is also noisy. Obviously I know I am not in the country side and will have to deal with some level of noisse being in the middle of a big city, but just want to make sure it is not much. Our budget is around $250 per night.

    Thx for your help

    thanks in advance
  • Hi, trying to book a hotel in NYC, I have got a question, if I go through lastminute.com the final quote says "including taxes", do I still need to pay any additional taxes at the time of the hotel check out? I am asking that because the lastminute quote is very similar to the ones I get from quikbook that doesn't include taxes.
    thx

If it says "included taxes" then it "includes taxes", dont forget quidco if you are booking through lastminute too
