anyone been to The View restaurant please? Booked my daughter and her friend in as they wanted to go out for a nice evening meal where they could get a bit dressed up and just wondering if anyone has any comments on it please.

Alternatively, are there any good modern restaurants they could go for dinner - they are both 19.

    Thanks

    Hi Gregg1

I went there a 2 and a bit years ago for my birthday (30th). It was really nice actually. We had a table near the window, but there wasn't much of a view as it was a foggy day. And there did seem to be quite a bit of wall and a view of the W hotel lol

They will need to leave their coats on another floor and take the lift up to the restaurant.

The food was nice, well cooked and presented - I had crab cake and then lamb for my main. The waiter brought out mini deserts for me/us with a candle which was nice!

I recommend the deserts - The cheesecake was lovely! and also cocktails.

Worked out at about $100 per person with drinks

I would go back again, but maybe just for desert and cocktails this time.

Hope they have a great time

Edit - Have a look at Buddaken - Its meant to be nice there

    Where are you staying?

I am a huge SATC fan, but didn't think much of the bakery. Carrie's doorstep is not far from there at all its on Perry Street if you are interested in going

Union square is a great place to walk around too

im not gonna tell anyone where im staying till i get back because i dont wanna hear loads of negative comments and then be anxious before i get there but it is a quite well known hotel i think :D

i might have to take a walk over to carries doorstep on perry st, thanks for telling me about that :T

Does this mean you have chosen a hotel with 'loads of negative' reviews haha.

    Have a great time!

    Hi ghdgirl
we stayed last year at Hilton Newark Penn station. There was a courtesy bus from the airport to the hotel (about 10 mins transfer) and the rooms were fine.
Next to Penn station to transfer to the city itself

I'm planning to visit the Chelsea Market - www.chelseamarket.com
    Lots of yummy looking stalls!

We love 'Ronnybrook Dairy' Milk Bar here...get some of their delish butter and lather it on some yummy bread from the excellent Amy's Bread across the way! (or if you are a Bialy fiend like me...on some Kossar's Bialy's from the LES).:)

If you are on a budget, Chelsea Thai do a mean Pad Thai for decent cheap eats.

Otherwise a great destination for the budding foodie all round. V kewl building too.

Now need to start looking at things to do!!
