This will be our 3rd trip in aug to ny and the heat does get very oppresive but its not un-bearable it helps that all stores are air-conned and there are plenty of places to get an energy burst, i swear by jumba juice when im starting to flag, also if it is hot, and time allows, its a good excuse to get a picnic and sit in central park for the afternoon

Well, as it is my birthday we are celebrating I really want to be there in August. I will ensure that I stay in a nice hotel with air con and I too will be visiting lots of air conditioned shops! Good to know you survived the experience - I'm sure we will too!

Yup. Numerous times actually. I think this march was the first time I didn't actually do it. 2nd Phase should be open soon, it's really nice, and gives you a different perspective on the streets, as you are looking down on them....

depends what you want for food. When you get off the High Line at Gansevoort Street, double back on yourself, and hang a left as you reach thestandard hotel. There is a bar there called Brass Monkey, and I think they've got a roof deck too, which is nice when it is sunny... Great food, amazing selection of beer. Did you know I'm a beer snob?

Or, You could just stop half way and head to chelsea market itself, that is around 14th Street, and there is an apple store there for your ipods etc.

Hmm.. where else. Well, when you've finished, you could keep heading south, and then hang left on West 4th Street. This is where the grid pattern doesn't work, but it's a nice area to walk around. You'll end up in Greenwich Village. Once you hit Washington Square Park, head down a block to W3rd Street and visit Amity Hall.

I've flown delta now numerous times, and haven't had a problem with them.... I do prefer the earlier flight from LHR, but that comes with a premium... £445 ain't bad for "school holidays" and you're going to save on NYC hotels.... have you booked them yet, or are you hanging fire for the bargains to appear?

OK, if hubby likes beer, then Amity Hall is great. Also, if you walk out of Amity Hall there is another bar, owned by the same people called the Half Pint. There, they do different beers, that Amity don't. However, Amity Hall do have the larger range. I always walk in and downstairs, however there is an upstairs too, I've never been there, downstairs suits me fine and is nice and relaxed.

Haven't booked the hotel yet, but getting very very nervous, may I ask when you think the hotels will (if they do?) drop their prices please? Do I need to wait till a couple of days before? (don't know if I'm brave enough!) I was thinking of using the bidding site mentioned on the main site, have you used this?
