    Hi,
Looking at quotes for taxi to take us from JFK airport to Manhattan.
Staying at East 11th Street. Once I input E into the destination it comes up with E 10th St, E 100th St etc.. Am I assuming correctly that if I do E 10th St I should get correct price? That rather then to have different prices for each street they probably just price up by blocks?

With both Dial 7 and Carmel, you select NEW YORK HOTELS, and choose your hotel on the list. This makes it easier, as you don't have to add in an address.

What hotel are you staying in?

Phatbear is right though, just go as a group, and get in the queue, and you can wait for a minivan. A minivan with both carmel and dial 7 is $60, plus toll ($5), and tip (15%-20%), so this is more expensive, (by at least $15) than waiting on line.

Confused now.. once it is cheaper, then it is more expensive.. Just 3 pages back there was and advice that it is cheaper to prebook.

When we get there, there will be a queue outside under sign "$60 for Manhattan fixed fee" or something? And that will be even for 5 people?

A normal car is cheaper, but a normal car holds 4 people. From JFK things are different to Newark.

From Newark it is cheaper to Pre Book, which is what was being discussed three pages back as there is no fixed fee. If you are at JFK, you just join the taxi queue, and it will be a fixed $45, plus toll and tip.

Me and my partner are looking at going to New York on 25th December, flying back 2nd January (dates are fixed).

Could anybody advise me on what I will be looking at for costs for the flight to allow me to plan my budget. I've already sorted out hotel budget
We're in the same position (2 adults) planning on travelling out 29th and returning on 03rd Jan

Some airlines still haven't released prices for these dates, so just chill out, hang fire 2 more weeks, and then you'll be able to see.
M4RKM, is it best to book early, or wait till later on in the year?

there will be no sign saying $60 fixed fee (i did not notice anyway)

when you get out of building you will see a line of yellow cabs and a coordinator asking where people are going and giving them a receipt with the cab number etc on.just wait in line tell him how many of you going and the destination and he will sort you out.

I've never gone to NYC at Christmas or New Year, and I don't advise on when to book, as it could cost people money, which I'm not liable for.

If you think a price is good, book it. If you think a price isn't good don't book it. I would think that £450 direct is a target price for a flight over New Year to NYC, but that's just my personal opinion.

I have I have travelled to NYC over Christmas holidays.. Boxing day for 7 days.. Hotel and Accomodation package for about £1150. 3* hotel (not our first choice but the only one that could accomodate our group, it was a lovely hotel but upper east side) that was two years ago and we booked 12 months in advance with Virgin (BA dates were not out yet and we didn't want to risk it)

Its difficult to know about prices, but I agree if you think it is a good price, book it now. Think about how you would feel if prices went up

It's all personal opinion - I have booked a flight for £500 to NYC in April. For me I know its probably not the best price, however the time I arrive suits me fine. And also I know I would have been disappointed if the prices went up (They have gone up - I know I shouldn't have looked but couldn't help it lol)

I think I read somewhere that the amount of interest showed in flights on a particular day searched online can push prices up.. Is this a myth?

    Thanks

Thanks Del the first poster wants to travel Xmas day.(going by his/her dates) Isnt this date historically cheaper slightly than dates around it as people dont really want to travel . I remember a friend going to Oz on xmas day as it was the cheapest at the time.
