£1.8k for the week including flights, I've read some mixed reviews on trip advisor..
Was just wondering if anyone had any experience themselves of staying there?
August...generally a humid time of year to go.
Think i read somewhere that you had to stick to a dress code e.g no demin when walking through the lobby. Can't remember where i read it, but instantly put me off the place!0 -
NAZAMDCDA.
normally cheaper to DIY unless someone is offering a decent discount so theres your answer. Both ... All depends when your going ...how long.. where your staying...what you want... kayak for flights .. hotel connexions .... Airlines direct... some TA ...lastminute.com.. kwiktravel... the other big one ..xpedia (thats the one) find dates (flexible 3 days either way) Cheap flights are harder than cheap hotels so book that first or fully refundable hotels then match a flight from the closest 3 airports that fly to NYC. No difference between JFK and newark IMO if you get a cheaper flight from one. Come back with more info enjoy NYC
Thanks Greenface,
I am looking to go in Feb/March, Dates are totally flexible and looking at maybe 2/3 night stay?0 -
First weekend in March fly from gatwick to newark for £350ish with Iceland get a decent hotel say New Yorker / Hyatt for a little about the sameish. Using priceline or different hotel connexions etc fill your spring boots in a mad dash around a very busy weekend . Have at least one decent meal try to see a show (Cheaper Oleta Adams is on BB Kings Blues Bar on March 5th, Walter Trout Early sat in April ) If you like sports see if theres a game on Baseball/basketball/Football (depending on season and whats on) hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

just back from trip - can I just thank everyone for the recommendations for the Cosmopolitan! I faffed trying to get a deal on priceline without success and hotwire prices didn't fall either - so paid about 850$ for 4 nights in the Cosmo - it was great. Good location - lovely and clean, cafe downstairs for breakfast, next door to subway stations. I don't know why I didn't just take the recommendation earlier and book it instead of wasting time trying to find alternatives!!
Went to a show - American Idiot - which was.... very professional, erm... dynamic... dancing was good....erm... had no storyline that I could fathom and erm was not the best part of our trip!
The highlight of our trip was a trip to Coney Island..... it is a real surprise (or it was to me... not sure what I was expecting). We went in the late morning so the pleasure beach wasn't open but there's a fantastic walk along the promenade. We sadly didn't eat any baloney though....
My top tip... if you see something you like, buy it - don't think you'll go back for it because you won't !!Bern :j0 -
Glad you enjoyed it and a great tip in life IMO. If you see it buy it.
I could tell you about the pair of prada shoes i walked away from in once for 25euro in France because i wanted to pay 20. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Hi, pinksteven
I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria a coupld of years ago (and got a free upgrade to a nice suite because he loved my English accent!)
No dress code as far as I recall but we only ate breakfast there- dinner may be more refined!! Gorgeous hotel with great location, you will have an amazing time x0 -
Hi ghdgirl,
Thank you for letting me know about your stay at the Waldord, I've booked it today and really excited!

I have just under 8000 airmiles ive save up so tempted to shoot back in early April just me & mrs Face.Problem how do we break it to the kids (in fact kid)(can wangle 2 with work and college commitments etc)
