Hi All,
Flying into Newark next Wednesday with DH and 2 x DD's.
Can anyone please advise on getting from the airport to the hotel.
Would like to book a limo with Carmel but not sure if would it be better to book the limo on another day for a couple of hours as not sure how long it take to get from the airport into the city. Or would the deluxe sedans be just as good? My girls would be so thrilled to ride around New York in a limo.
Also would it also be best to book car now to get us back to the airport on Sunday eve.

I've booked a carmel car to pick us up from JFK for $40. There was a $4 coupon so once that's come off and the $5 toll has been added on, that'll be $41, is $50 okay to pay, as this would include a 21% tip? But I didn't know if I should tip more if using a coupon? Also could anyone who has been there recently let me know what the weather is like please? I'm leaving in less than 3 weeks and am trying to figure out what kind of clothes to take.

you tip on the full price of the ride before using coupon and NOT including tolls , you dont tip on tolls ........... so thats $40 for the ride , so if you give him $50 , after he asks for $41 after toll and coupon , thats a 25% tip ........ VERY ACCEPTABLE . Dont tip anymore , $50 is fine0 -

Where did you get the coupon from please0 -
carmel have their coupons on the front page of their website.
when booking online, before you click through for the booking, there is a simple TICK box that you must tick, and write down the code it gives you on the popup on the screen, otherwise you wouldn't get the discount
You must print out the coupon, and write this number in, and hand it over to the driver at the beginning of the ride.

Looking for a New York Hotel lower Manhatten, or Midtown. Reasonabily priced and clean! Any suggestions?
There are hundreds of hotels in NYC, some kind of budget, and also dates you are wanting to go, will help get you into a great hotel that you will like.
Prices can vary by the week, day, and season drastically.0 -

Can anyone advise how much the subway costs, for a day or 5 day pass?
Just got back last week, current prices for a one day 'fun pass' as they call it $8.25 pp. They don't do a 5 day one, a 7 day one is the next one up and that was approx $28. You can use them on the buses too, I believe. You can buy these passes at the subway station. Works just like the ones on the London tube, get the card and run it through the ticket machine as you go in the station. Just make sure you have smaller amount notes or preferably coins when you buy it at the machine - I had only $20 dollar notes and it wouldn't give me that much change (maximum change available at the machines I used was $6) so had to use my credit card. Subway is easy to navigate and much safer these days than it was in the early- mid 1990s.0
