  • We fly out to NYC on Wednesday staying for 4 nights. Thinking of booking a helicopter flight - anyone recommend best company to use - there are so many! Been to NYC several times before but its my hubbys first time so planning lots of sightseeing so thinking of getting a NYC pass.

    Hi

We were there a few weeks ago, and used Liberty helicopters. I have no idea how they compare in price to other companies, but they were very good, and we really enjoyed it.

We found the New york pass brilliant. it's just so easy, and saves time in queues. We bought ours online, and picked them up in planet Hollywood. We had a meal in PH and got $10 off each with the pass, and also $10 off each in the shop too. HTH

With over 20,000 restaurants in NYC offering every single type of food that you can think of, Can i please encourage people to explore, and not eat at Planet Hollywood.

Also, if you plan things, get some discounts, the NY Pass doesn't really save that much. I've done many comparisons before.

With regards to the full body scanners, this is airport and terminal dependent.

Where can you get discounts from? I've looked online a lot and except for TOTR $2 off coupons.

we were in New york for a week, and only went to PH once LOL We ate out all over the place inc Queens & New jersey.

re the NY pass, you just have to weigh things up, we wrote down all the things we planned to do for definite, and and how much we would save. For us this was a substantial amount.

agreed there are so many eating places to try,we were there for a week in oct and only ate at a chain place once on first night about hour after arriving at hotel, ashamed to admit it was maccy d's but wanted something quick and easy as a little jaded.

some of the best places are off the beaten track so explore those side streets etc one of the nicest places i ate was almond up by madison square park the marinated steak was the dogs.

There is nothing wrong with Planet Hollywood - yes of course try other eateries but if you fancy going there do it - its an experience and the kids love seeing outfits and regalia from films and TV which they have around the restaurant.
  • quick question. We land at JFK at 13.05pm - what time would you book a carmel cab for? Have emailed them but not heard anything back and we go Wednesday!

Weird, I've never heard of a 13.05pm, I've heard of 13.05 or 1.05pm.. I'm guessing you mean one of the latter 2... ;)

Always give at least an hour between landing, and getting out with your luggage, depends who you fly with, depends on what other flights land, to what kinda queue you'll get at the immigration queue.

Then picking up luggage and customs, isn't that much of a wait, JFK seem to have the luggage down to a fine art now, and I've never waited more than 15 minutes to get mine.

You then must ring Carmel once you've cleared everything, and they'll give you directions.

If you are booking your Carmel car online, remember to get the $4 discount voucher - you need to TICK the box when booking, and write in that code in the box on the coupon

Here we go again - someone disagrees with you and you throw your dummy out of the pram yet again, stomp off and then return a few months later. I suspect I am not the only one getting a little tired of these tantrums!

Yes you know a lot about NY and yes you have helped people enormously but your over the top reactions are becoming a tad tiresome.

as said allow an hour to clear everything, although personally i think a cab from jfk is a better option.I was going to use carmel or lincoln but read in small print that if you were running late then there is only so much waiting time they allow once that has elapsed the cost goes up.
I ended up getting a taxi walked outside doors straight in a yellow cab and a set fee of $45 plus tax and tips.
