There's some great tips on here, just wondered if anyone knew of a good website with a map with all the good attractions like ESB, History Museum etc. I'm trying to plan our itinerary, but want to base it on what's near to what, rather than spend half the days travelling between places.
Thanks in advance

anyone stayed at the Salisbury please - any good?0

My mum stayed in the salisbury (in a suite, so can't comment on individual room size) and would recommend it to others. She didn't give me much feedback but said that it was clean, good location, friendly staff and basically fit the purpose of being a room that they wouldn't be spending huge amounts of time in.0

Thanks for that - reviews are good on tripadvisor but thought I would ask here as well.

Right i know it's a money saving forum, but here's the best piece of advice i can offer, buy a guide book. I know it's madness to advocate spending a few quid (seriously no more than £5-6 will suffice) but it will help you understand things a lot better when planning your days.
When i went last year i had a few ideas of what i wanted to do (ESB, Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden tour) and figured out what was best to do on the same days. So for example i knew that ESB & MSG are pretty close to each other, so i figured it was best to do those on the same day rather than say ESB & Yankee Stadium tours.
The reason i'm saying about the guide books is because they can recommend things you might not think of, may have suggested iteneries (sp) and often come with a small pocket map. If you want to sort it out so you know where stuff is, i'm pretty sure you can pin stuff on Bing/Google maps to give you an idea as to what will work "together" area wise.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
And if there's a group of you, buy a guide book each, IMO. I bought several cheap ones, gave one to each boy, and encouraged them to choose what they wanted to do before we left. They didn't, but at least I'd tried!Signature removed for peace of mind0

I have an iphone but I am not the best when it comes to using it.
Do you have to access the internet/ roaming to use it? or not?
Nope once its downloaded the first time you dont need to access the internet for the subway map.
If you want the neighbourhood maps you have to download them, but once they are downloaded once then you don't need to do it again.0 -
