heres my input -- Havent been to murry hill but hotels are priced per room but there is some things to consider. Do you have use of the gym/pool brekkie etc email the hotel incognito and ask. or keep your head down and split up in a pairs both with a key. smile on the way in and meet up at your room Its only if you come in sloshed and get a bit stroppy etc theyll notice you. (tip to the doorman goes well)

  • Can I ask what you guys think of this deal??

I can get 3 nights in March 2011 at the Crowne Plaza on Times Square (using the IHG Friends and Family rate on here) for £351 total. Not sure whether to take the plunge and book it or not! Am I likely to get better for this location/standard?? I've been before and stayed at the Financial District so would like to be more part of the action this time so looking for in and around Times Square.

I'm worried if I don't book the rate will go, but it's non-refundable and I'm scared if I do book I'll find something better nearer the time!

I have spent hours and hours looking at hotels and there's not one that we're 100% sold on (although I love the look of the New York Palace) so it's not a must to stay at this particular hotel.
  • Should we book to do Ellis island/lady liberty or can we just turn up?

I had wanted to do the crown thing but after looking 8 weeks before we were due to be there it was still booked for all 6 days we are there so now I'm getting round to working out when we'll do ellis island and lady liberty without the crown acces....

Myself and my wife heading across to New York a week on Thursday for her 40th. We have a theatre trip on the Friday night but I was looking at maybe going for a few drinks on the Saturday night. With that in mind I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for any "sky bar" type bars in Manhatten, something thats a few floors up and would give us some views of the city?

Also if you do have a recommendation then I would also appreciate any information on dress code. We are hoping to keep things pretty casual (jeans and t shirt) if we can so would be good to know if we were going to face any door problems.

Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

You can just turn up on day unless you want to go to the crown as you know or to the museum in which case you have to book this in advance online.

In this situation I would always ask myself how would I feel if I logged in tomorrow and the deal wasn't there how would I feel?

If you would be gutted, then book it. If you wouldn't and are willing to take a chance then go for it.

Have you got your flights sorted ??
You may save about £100 off IHG price without discount but always make sure you have a good deal on your flight first as this could be expensive. So as above if your happy with THAT price forget what it could be or even what youve saved jusy book it

If you pre book you will miss long long queues, pre booking is advisable.
