Don't know what I'm expecting to hear in reply to this but....
Can anyone tell me what's looking like a decent flight price to New York next year? Specifically from Glasgow? Continental are the only direct option and don't want to go in-direct (it's for parents, not me).
Cheapest I'm getting is £470 each, which considering I paid £347 each to go to Orlando in May (doing the Continental Glasgow-Newark-Orlando route) doesn't seem that great but I don't want to recommend my parents wait if it's going to come back and bite me in the !!!.
Are people still getting those under £400 flights for next year??0 -

wow you have a long list and not much time to do it all!!
I am doing TOTP and ESB not bothered what others say,if i were you i would prioritise what is most important for you to do make a list in order of preference and and take it from there.sorry not much help really but difficult to suggest things when not sure what your main must see's are.
look at it like this the stuff you do not do can be used as an excuse to go back again when your little one is older,i am going again in oct with my 2 year old she cannot wait to go to the zoo etc.0 -
I would definately recommend the hop on hop off bus tour. It includes all the things on your list and your ferry ticket to SoL and Ellis Island. The first time I visited NY I had a similarly ambitious list but saw everything with the 2 day ticket. The beauty of it being that if all you want to do is see and take a picture (i.e. Flat Iron Building) then you can stay on the bus. But for others that you want to visit like ESB you can get off the bus right outside. It really did seem to cover everything we wanted to see.
The Yankee Stadium is quite a way out of the city so would end up taking a real chunk out of a day, if you need to do something sporty perhaps consider the Madison Square Garden tour instead?0 -

This is quite do-able if you dont mind a walk and using the subway, my top tip is to get an umlimited subway card which is valid for 7 days and will set you back $27 each.
M&M's world, which is poop and toy's r us is all in the time square area give a block or two, so thats three things off the list.
Tiffanys is two blocks from the south east entrance of central park, so another two things done.
SOL jump on the staten island ferry which is free and you will get a decent view of SOL on the way there and back, last time we timed it so the sun was setting behind lady liberty and got some amazing pics.
Chrysler building, which for reference is my fave building in NYC, is outside grand central terminal, so thats another two.
Radio city is at the end of the block where top of the rock is.
ESB is easy walking distance to flat iron building.
Why go on a stadium tour when you could catch a yankees game, tickets are cheap'ish and readily available, depending on when you are going of course.
My other top tip is go on googlemaps and start you own map and place all the things you want to see and you will notice that the vast majority of stuff is pretty close togetherLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Hi There
Not done the direct Glasgow route but twice from Edinburgh - first was to Newark with Continental. Second time was with Delta/Air France to JFK. My JFK flights were £350 in July '09 however from recent conversations with friends who are going (and have been before) there was nothing under £400 to be found!
Sorry, I know Edinburgh isn't Glasgow but I've always found the Edinburgh option cheaper even with parking added on Edinburgh was till cheaper - I parked both times.
Hope this helps!LBM 03/07 £44k:eek: DFD 31/12/17 :A 12/17 £2545.50

Thanks for replyingI have looked at flying from Edinburgh and it's currently only £16 cheaper so not really worth it. It is an option though.
And unfortunately Continental flights are now £500 each :eek:0 -

thanks to everyone else that replied tooMaking a change in 20130 -
From reports the beast is well thought of but its quite frantic and your liable to get wet, so it depends on the time of year you are going, ie you probably dont wana walk around wet allday if poop weather.
may be worth subscribing to:
http://www.groupon.com/subscriptions/new?utm_content=three_steps-v2
as they have in the past had discount vouchers for the beast, however you need to be aware that you will get a daily deal from in your email so it may be worht leaving it till closer to going away to signing up.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
