WoW just found this place. Heading to NY in September off the back of a trip to Hawaii, so we're staying at the Millennium Hilton for 2 nights before heading home. Managed to get a good deal there. It's 5* and was good value. I believe they're still offering a discount. Might have something to do with the works going on at ground zero though.
Will sift through this post when I have a bit more time
The Millenium Hilton is a very nice hotel but it is not a 5*, it is a 4*. However, unless you are used to 5* hotels I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference. Some guests have complained about disruption and noise, but I was near there a few weeks ago and there was nothing that would cause me a greal deal of inconvenience.
As you know the MH is downtown, but it is very well connected to other areas by the subway so this should not cause you a problem.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Hi,
Am thinking of going to New York over Christmas either just before or between Xmas and New Years for roughly three nights
Was wondering if this would be recomended and who I should look for flights and acoomidation with?
And roughly how much I should look at paying for two people! Any help will be much appreciated

Our family of 4 (inc a 7 and 10 year old) are visiting NY in mid October with our friends (inc a 6, 12 and 14 year old). We are staying for 3 nights
I spent ages finding a suitable hotel in Manhattan (which could accommodate the family of 5) and ended up with the Milburn Hotel which is $1155 for them and $874 for us. (ouch)
Bearing in mind our age range our possible 'to do' list includes:
TOTR (rather than ESB)
Central Park
Top of Statue of Liberty (I had visited Staten Island museum before which was great but not sure if its for the kids)
Times Square (but not to eat)
Tour of Grand Central Station
Intrepid museum
Theatre show depending on availability on the night (may have to split up)
I was also recommended http://www.supershuttle.com/ for our size group which worked out around $13 each to get from Newark airport to the hotel
Can anyone kindly comment on the above (good/bad) or anything else that would be good for a family?
I can then plan an itinerary and also how to get around (probably tube and walking)
Many thanks

I would book this now, if there are even any spaces left. Places go quick. I'm going mid/late september and it's already fully booked for the whole monthAdam's diary - My Debt Diary - The Challenge | LBM May 2010 with £23,343.35 | £16,141.46 to go...

My partner and I went on Boxing Day 2008 and loved seeing all the Xmas decorations everywhere. I especially loved all the trees decked in fairy lights. We also went in January this year. The first was booked with Virgin Holidays and the latter with United Vacations. We booked flights for as early in the morning as possible so we didn't waste any of our first day there.
Can't remember the exact prices, but I think it was about £650 each for 3 nights.
The first time we stayed at the Paramount Hotel on 46th St near to Times Square, it was ok but the room was very small. The second we stayed at the Renaissance at 2 Times Square. Absolutely fab :-)
Have a fantastic time!From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0 -
