Assuming you hold a brit passport then all you need is an ESTA and a return ticket to the UK

Hi. This may sound silly, but me and partner have never been to the states before and are heading to new york in noveber; is all that we will need to aquire an ESTA which we do beforehand? Besides having a passport, obviously lol, is there anything else we will need to allow us to travel? Thanks.

Take Martins advice and do it now though. They are introducing a charge soon. (its valid for 2yrs)
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

I'm posting something that was forwarded to me. I won't be in the States this year, so cannot verify either the offer, or the website. Maybe someone else can do that. So, Caveat Emptor and all that, I did go through the first section and it seemed to work.

    1) Go to www.restaurant.com

    2) Buy a gift certificate for a restaurant you would like to eat at. In this example, I would like 4 x $25 gift certificates for Welcome to Orchidea, 12th Avenue, NY, which is being sold at a very reasonable $10 each.

    3) At the checkout screen, type in 'PLATE' as your promo code.

    4) Watch in amazement as your $100 worth of food for $40 is now available for $8.

    Valid before 31st July.

I'm going to cross post this in the Vegas thread. Someone let us know how it goes :D

As Froggitt pointed out in the other thread I posted on, worth noting:

"This is fine. However be aware that you may only be allowed to redeem one of your $25 vouchers each month. Buying one $100 voucher - thats fine. You must meet the eligibility eg buy two main courses, spend over $200 etc. "
when i try to register with restaurant .com it asks for a zip code and my post code is not valid, is this only available to usa citizens?

That was on the recomendation of someone on MSE. Can't remember who though.
  • Hi guys!

I'm trying to find best/cheapest way to get from Newark to Brooklyn where we're staying.

Round trip on Coach USA Bus from Newark to port authority terminal (and then onwards by metro) is $25 pp round trip.

    Is that about right?

I was looking at super shuttle and it was like $90 each way!!

Thats a vegas zip code i think.... for amongst other things, the New York New York hotel! :T

When I went to India.. I know slightly different - the suggestion was to use the UK Embassay postcode, which i did and got visa no problem, so maybe the postcode of the Uk Embassay in New York for your ESTA if you dont know hotels yet?

The zip code was just to register on restaurant.com, NOT on an ESTA application. I suggest that as an ESTA is an official document then any information put on it should be correct!
