Dont see why you cant use their modem with other networks nor do I see a good reason why you can't get a good deal with AOL now you are armed with the above information."The time is always right to do what is right"0

Seems that I have put a cat amongst the pigeons here, and getting a bit concerned, as am hearing that for the gold package it will be £19.99, and AOL won't go lower than that. They are offering £9.99 for silver package.
However, being on gold package, I was told that I will be on same as I am now for £9.99, but with 12 month tie in contract again, since our broadband contract had expired with AOL.
Now...............hearing all the bits and pieces, wondering if I will be on silver package when my next payment is due. They didn't actually say I would be still on gold, they just said I would get the same as I am on now - and perhaps, and I suspect this strongly, that I should not have the gold package in the first place, as the phone system isn't enabled enough for 8mb???
When I check through billing am still certainly on gold - but next billing date, will give me a better picture of things.
So.........can I just calm things down a bit, and will let you all know when I check again when new payment is made - 21/08/07 - so give me another couple of days after that, just to be sure and will let you all know.
Sorry for any bother caused here, just don't want everyone to be in a tizz when it might be my error.0 -
Hmmm, I'm on AOL Platinum at £29.99 p/m/ I thought it was 2MB, but it is up to 8mb. I wondered why I was getting d/l speeds of around 600kb/s.
Still, £29.99 is way too much for Internet access. I may try and drop down a level or two.
Anyone know how to find out when your contract started (On AOL Screen) , as I only joined Platinum last year. I think I should be out of the 12 month contract by now.0 -
They almost instantly put me on the Silver package so an easy way to tell what your getting is when you login check what is say either it will say AOL Silver or AOL Gold where it tells you where the date is. If you still on Gold then u getting Gold for 9.99 a month
I am glad you got that deal and glad you told us as hopefully other people will now be able to get better deals themselves :-)Anne_Marie wrote:Seems that I have put a cat amongst the pigeons here, and getting a bit concerned, as am hearing that for the gold package it will be £19.99, and AOL won't go lower than that. Will this work for me though as I'm not on broadband at all atm. Will I get Silver or Gold at 9.99 with the free router? 1MB - is this a fast enough speed?
Also what about if I go through Quidco and then phone them up to negotiate??0 -
Just checked again and I have been moved to AOL Silver rather than Gold, just changed today to Silver, was still Gold last night. Upload and download speeds are the same as I have always got - so obviously been paying too much for years as my phone line can't cope with high bb speeds. Oh well, sorry about any confusion to all - but record set straight now.
Anyway saving £15/month.

Yes I think I was doing the same as I have not notice any difference in performance since I have moved down onto Silver"The time is always right to do what is right"0
