i am currently on dial up anytime access with aol for £9.99 per month.
Ive recently had an advertisement to connect to broadband silver with regular free modem for £9.99 for life. This is currently 17.99 after the first 6 months generaly. sounds a steal so if your on dial up im guessing it must have been offered to all0 -

I called AOL on the freephone 0800 2006254 number I found on ''say no to 0870''; said that this seemed unfair to present customers; and was offered 1year at £14.99 and a free router as ''a special offer to loyal members like yourself''.
So I end up with a wireless connection and £36 saving over a year.
I do have to start a new contract for 1 year but I wasn't about to change anyway.
On the basis of Karin's post I contacted AOL again, given that I was aware of other being also given a wireless connection, low and behold it's in the post!
Thanks,
Paul1Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
can anyone whos managed to get a better deal out of aol tell me if they were out of the 12 twelve month contract or not0

I tried AOL broadband jsut over a year ago. I couldn't get it to work. Spent 2 hours on the phone to their technical departmant who also couldn't get it working. Eventually, after much argument, they took it back. Then of course they still debited my bank account and had to argue about that. They still owe me £4.0

I had the same trouble with AOL. I have been a customer for 6 years and so i phoned to ask for a free wireless router but was told it was for new customers only !
After much debate i was upgraded to GOLD at £19.99 a month, given a free months subscription and a free wireless router.
Over all it works out i will pay an extra 24p a month for upgrading from silver to gold.
I rarely have to pay anything to them monthly anyway because i use AOL reward points so i'm pleased with the free wireless router. It did take about 4 hours and two phone calls to set up though.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
I have a 12 mth contract with AOL for their broadband silver package which runs out in September and it costs £17.99per mth. I have just seen advertised that the silver package is now £14.99 so I went onto live help and complained about this they said I too could have the package for 14.99 if I started a new 12 mth contract if not I would continue to be charged 17.99 and they would not budge. They told me to ring an 0870 number if I wanted to speak to someone but they said I would be told the same. I do not want to be held into another contract with them as I am sure I could get broadband cheaper but I think its poor that a loyal customer is paying more for the same package as new customers who are getting it cheaper. What does anybody else think?0

Its actually fixed at £14.99 (for) now with a free wireless router. AOL have got a bad rep and overcharged my parents (£34.99 for 2mb bb) but this offer seems pretty good.
The helpline used to be free but the number then changed to a charged for one.Bet match total as of 04/10 = God Knows + About £1000 Quidco. Time for Mrs Huddsta to have a crack!!!
The Bronze Challenge - earn £250 in profits =£73.320 -
I have merged a couple of threads if you read the previous posts, you'll see that some existing AOL users have got the cheaper deal0
