  • Afternoon all

No snow or ice here now, all melted.

I walked to work again, and brought packed lunch. I haven't been out in the car since Sat or to a shop! I'm feeling like I should pop out and may go to supermarket tonight as I have a few things on my list, but then again they are not important so can wait til next week. I also need to take recycling to tip (we don't get it collected where I live sadly) as it's piled up now! Because I was on holidays and then the snow I haven't spent much money this month and get paid in a week so am thinking I may go and stock up on extra essentials for my storecupboard so that on 'poorer' months I'll have lots in! Think I'll see how I feel when I get home and decide then.

This morning in work has flown by! We have a new colleague here seconded for 6months and he mentioned his wife is looking fo rladies to join the netball team she is in, so I may go along and see how hard it is!

OS wise, tonight I need to put WM on because I am away this weekend so can't do my laundry then.

    Have a good day all

Lowesy do what feels right for you....DS was breastfed, infact was on the boob a few mins after being born:o, he just took to it and I never had any problems. He did however need a lot of milk and used to drain both sides at each feed. Probably because he was such a big baby. It got to the point where he was needing feeding so often that he was draining me every couple of hours and I couldnt replace the milk quick enough to keep up with him, so when he was about 3 months old he was supplemented with a bottle or two at various points in the day.
I did find midwives wanted me to do a birth plan in very detailed form which I didnt want to do really as because I had no idea what was going to happen in my labour and didnt want a strict birth plan only to see it all go wrong:rolleyes:......only thing I specified was no pethidine as I wanted to be in control of things( a nurse thing i think:o), as far as did i want an episiotomy, did i want forceps etc....well if I need them so be it. I did want a water birth but ended up with a 3 day induction, failed epidural:rolleyes: so no pain relief, 2 episiotomies, failed ventuse and 2 types of forceps before he was finally out( he got stuck as was the size of 2 twins)...I didnt plan any of that;). Several friends of mine had huge problems with labour etc as they had made such a detailed birthplan and couldnt cope with it not going to plan.

...Need some advice from you brainy OS'ers - what is high in calcium that isn't milk?! I don't like milk at the best of times but being pregnant I really can't face it. Have also gone off cheese - not very helpful I know...

    I was told sardines

Also, I only BF for 4 weeks with DS1 & 3 weeks with DS2 - my theory was that it was the best time to do it to pass on antibodies etc, and then their dad could do night feeds & both grandmas could feed during the day! But i agree with all others - do what is best for you & the LO.

Hi from sunny Bristol (NOT - but I'm trying to tell myself it's a lovely sunny day as it always makes me feel better!)

Had a busy day already today; been and cleaned all my bedroom (even the windows ) and it looks so much better, then chatted to my boss on the phone for 30 mins re plans for the future etc, normal housework, fetched DS from pre-school and just had lunch.

Sounds like the snow is melting for most of us now thankfully. It's still slippery but definitely going on the slushy side; really mucky and grim. I'll be glad when it's gone.

DD is going to play with one of her school friends after school today and I'm going too to chat with her mum who I get on really well with. Only problem is she's gorgeous - used to be a model, lovely hair, skin, great make up and always looks so nice. I feel like a right tramp today; wild hair, got a few spots, look tired ...... I could go on! Oh well, life's too short and all that :o

    :D Afternoon everybody,
Well,it seems warmer here after snowing most of yesterday, and bits seem to be thawing.I've been to the local shops and library,DS1 dropped me off and I got the bus back.I could have walked, its about 20 mins, but my new library books were heavy, and it doesn't do my dodgy arm any good carrying weight.Didn't buy much, just wanted a change of scenery :D

Done some admin jobs when I got back, renewed DS2s prepayment cert for his prescriptions, and booked his respiratory review with the docs as he is asthmatic and they want to see him.The chemists will pick up his meds and deliver them here later. He is going away on Sunday so needs to be stocked up.

just having a cuppa, then I'm going to do some sewing, fleecy neck warmers for DS2.Tea tonight is some lamb chops I had in the freezer,so thats nice and easy.

Take care if its slippy,( and even if its not !)
BF- I've got to admit I loved feeding both DS,once it got established properly, but they were hungry babies too,so felt like I was always at it :rotfl:Mind you, they are 6'6" & 6'4 respectively now, must have been good stuff!
My friend hated the idea and bottle fed ,so I guess I agree with everyone-you have to make your own mind up ;)

PS.-I love how a chance comment suddenly makes the thread take on a life of its own, whether it be BF,dogs or fave childhood books,to name a few recent ones. Its always good to read anyway.:j

    Still waiting for a collection.
Lunch was the last of the cheese and crackers.
Not sure what to have for dinner, maybe cottage pie....got mince from the co-op....2 for£5, and there are pot's in the cupboard, so it's looking likely, depending on what time we get back from friends.

    Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't posted for several days - I'm still in the throes of a Lupus flare, so struggling to get my Flylady tasks done, and then my depression kicked me in the gut and carried on kicking while I was squirming on the floor, iyswim.:(

OS today will at least be HM pizza for tea - the dough is being prepped in the BM as I type.

MSD Second breakfast?? I thought only Hobbits had that!:D

My new Wii Fit arrived today - I have to lose some weight, and the gym just isn't an option for me. Should prove.... er..... interesting, if nothing else. It'll be interesting to see how often I fall flat on my all-too-subtantial butt. It's an expense, but Mr LW can use it too, so we felt it was worth it.

LW - I have a wii fit - and its good but its a long slow process in the beginning.

Little one got a Wii from father christmas last year, so this year he got a wii fit and Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics.....(saved having to buy another big present!:money:) Anyway - it was probably me who really wanted the wii fit, but I wouldnt buy something so expensive for me.... :o

When we first started using it at christmas, you kinda play the games and dont really realise that you are excersing. But you can quickly fall into the trap of just playing the games.... like I do! :rotfl:

This week I have started doing the muscle exercises as well as the aerobic exercises and am really starting to notice the difference, last week I lost 2lbs and that was only using it a twice in the week. Ive only used it once this week so far and have been a bit naughty with my food (and I had 2 cheeky glasses of wine with my friend :p)

But what Im trying to say is, yes, its an expense, but its worth it.....or certainly seems to be xx

Well, I'm not saying things aren't great...but I had to look through today's thread to see if I had already posted!

SAD kicked in big style, have told them at work that I'll be back in next week if increased 'dose' works. I've made a doc's appt but that isn't till a week on Tuesday. Might try for a phone appointment before then. I really would like to speak to my own doc. I'm OK as long as I don't have to go anywhere or do anything much. I feel safe in my own little bubble. I'm tired and don't have much energy. I'll be OK! I realise I don't have to put up with the stuff that a lot of people do.

DD rang which cheered me up. Following on from our shopping trip in Bath on Monday and her getting her mushroom soup made yesterday...she wanted to know how much veg to stock was a good ratio, as she didn't have any cornflour to thicken if it was too thin.

It seems that there was a stewpack of veggies whoopsied in the campus shop. She said people can't have been buying stuff as there was a lot of stuff YS. I think I'm more proud of her doing the YS and HM soup than getting high grades! Don't tell her dad I said so! She said supply of stuff is a bit erratic. Not all students are back yet as it's exam and assessment time. She said she didn't have yeast, so I suggested she makes some soda bread or cheese scones. She says she has done soda bread with her guides a long time ago.

Arms still sore (tennis elbow and bad acupuncture session!) so doing the ironing a couple of bits every hour. Should be done by the end of the day.

Made some chicken and veg soup for lunch, base from freezer. Shall make dumplings to go in it for ds's meal tonight. He'll be pleased with that. Might make some chocolate pud as well.
