I'm in the middle of creating a file with all important info in it form tax numbers to emergency gas number, lost credit card phones number the lot. Realising how useful this would be if disaster ever struck. It was on the flylady list to do and I wondered if any of you have a similar thing?
That's a great idea, had been told ages ago to do so by a wise relative and never did. Will add that to my to-do for the weekend, thanks!

That IS usually the type, then someone comes along try to eek by and there's nothing left! Glad everything is loud and clear in the right ear.

Hi from sunny Bristol (NOT - but I'm trying to tell myself it's a lovely sunny day as it always makes me feel better!
Hahaha, the power of positive thinking, eh? Just about to start drawing a nice sunny day on the lounge windows here, tired of waiting for the real thing!

It's now raining quite heavy here, warm enough atm that it won't freeze and isn't supposed to, fingers crossed. I would gladly trek through mounds of snow to do what needed to be done, but ice is another matter. BH has a giggle at me every time it's the least bit slick out 'cuz I walk (read: shuffle) like I'm 110 :D

Have been thinking about a WiiFit . . . . already have the Wii bit (ooh, that rhymes! lol) and saw it mentioned somewhere here today I think. Is it any good? Will it magically remove these developing bingo wings?? Getting a bit of a blabby back too. . . . ewwww..... :rotfl:

**EDIT** Just saw the WiiFit posts on todays . . . but more info always welcome!

Hi all, not read yet so need to catch up. Hugs to those who need or want one :D

well, i made myself go to my craft class last night. Talk about overwhelming  I didnt realise I was shy!:rotfl:I made some flapjacks and took them as you get supper, so they were very appreciative of them - although hardly anyone seemed to know what a flapjack was, and people were asking me what the green seeds are - pumpkin seeds!

I was really shy for ages and just sat there watching everyone in amazement so it was a good while before I got with it. I befriended this woman called Cara and it was her first class too (I ended up showing her how to crochet?). There was this woman called Grace and for some reason I thought she was an OSer but i didn't know how to ask?! Maybe i was wrong though. So basically everyone sits around in a circle and knits/crochets/patchworks etc. They are going to have specific card making nights, and patchworking but you don't have to do that and can just knit or crochet if you want.
It's really relaxed and everyone is very friendly . The woman who runs it was very helpful and i kept accosting her . She showed me how to knit button holes for my cushion, and she took me through some crochet. I have the makings of a square - done in trebles, but I think I am a bit baffled today by it all. She did sme of the moves very quickly and bless her was trying to spread herself around everyone, but I was like - ok, I can do that, now what's next. Need to have another go at it today. :j:o

The thing I dont get is the mathmatical part. It Started with 12 trebles, then you split those into 4 - which i understand. But sometimes you do 3 sometimes you do 6, so It's more that I find confusing - rather than how to do the stitch..... So i don't really know what i'm doing.

I went to a friends house after for drinks so am suffering a bit today. I slow cooked a bit of pork I have had in the freezer since last June - and it seems nice, although I don't know if I like pork. Think i will make a nice dinner. I invited my brother down but waiting to see if he replies

Definitely going to make chilli jam today.:A:eek::D

My hairy bikers cook book has been posted and I am uber excited :D

I am also waiting on a pair of boots. I bought this pair years ago and have had them re heeled and soled SO many times, i'm not sure if they can still be patched up. They are wranglers boots and I have tried over the years to get the same pair again - as they are so comfortable and I'm not good with heels:o

So basically I managed to get the same pair BARELY WORN off ebay. I wouldn't normally buy second hand shoes , but these boots are an exception. I paid £26 plus £5 postage and they are worth every penny. I am so excited, but the thing is there is a nother pair up now in BLACK! Which i didn't know you could even get! So i want those too.... irrelevant rambling....:rotfl:
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

LW - I have a wii fit - and its good but its a long slow process in the beginning.

Little one got a Wii from father christmas last year, so this year he got a wii fit and Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics.....(saved having to buy another big present!:money:) Anyway - it was probably me who really wanted the wii fit, but I wouldnt buy something so expensive for me.... :o

When we first started using it at christmas, you kinda play the games and dont really realise that you are excersing. But you can quickly fall into the trap of just playing the games.... like I do! :rotfl:

This week I have started doing the muscle exercises as well as the aerobic exercises and am really starting to notice the difference, last week I lost 2lbs and that was only using it a twice in the week. Ive only used it once this week so far and have been a bit naughty with my food (and I had 2 cheeky glasses of wine with my friend :p)

But what Im trying to say is, yes, its an expense, but its worth it.....or certainly seems to be xx
Thanks for the info; as I can't go out anywhere on my own, and also I couldn't cope with doing anything in front of others, it seems a good option for me. We got the Wii console the other day, and have been having a go at Wii Sports and Sport Resort that came with it. I have already identified a couple of the games on those that will (hopefully) help strengthen my wrists and arms, or at least slow down their deterioration, so that's good.

Diet isn't really an issue with me; in fact I have trouble eating at all a lot of the time. Better now we're having all HM stuff, but I still can only eat very tiny portions.

Right, I've finished as much of the Flylady list as I can do, so off to that thread to report in.:o

    Hi,
Just back from my midwife friend. Nice to catch up but missing being a midwife big time today as she was telling me about some of her recent births. Well re the breastfeeding Im obviously very pro breast feeding but understand that its a very personal choice. I breastfed four babes but it wasn't always easy so I know the difficulties faced by new mum. However it is very money saving and convenient which is relevant to this forum ;)

Im shattered today but my cleaner has called in so we are tidy (at least on the surface)

Not sure about my dinner tonight. !

    xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Hi All

Re baby books, find one that tells you to do things the way you want to do them! I bought the Hugh Jolly book & everytime the MIL said' We didn't do that in my day' I shoved the book under her nose, lol.
Deafness is getting worse, hope it starts to clear soon.
DD2 rang me, she's being made redundant & is in a panic, poor lass.
It's thawing here, but very slowly, & when it does we'll have floods, lol.
    Hugs Hester

I'm trying to focus on what I CAN do rather than what I can't. I've put a kg of chickpeas in to soak and also a kg of cannellini. I shall cook these during the day tomorrow. I have a few Christmas thankyou cards to write, so will try and tackle those this evening. Plus a couple of birthday cards.

We are about out of skimmed milk. I usually get 24 at a time, so hope that if I get 12 today noone will accuse me of hoarding! It's just how I operate. I like to have a month's worth in so that if I don't get to the shops then it's there. I might get ds to come with me after school today or tomorrow to do the lifting.

    Hi All

Deafness is getting worse, hope it starts to clear soon.

Hester I had terrible terrible congestion once after I had a cold. I asked a friend who did Hopi candles to give me a treatment but she told me I'd be wasting my money and that the best thing was to have a steam inhalation a few times a day for a few days. I was very very skeptical, but it did work. I think I used some of that Karvol oil, but the methol and eucalyptus you can get is probably cheaper and available at the chemist. Olbas oil is another you can use. I thought this was a treatment just for noses, but as they're connected through to your ears somehow it helps.

We arrived back from our trip to the frozen wastes of the north, just around 3pm. Having bid our hosts farewell and see you again soon, we left with snow falling and dire forecasts about the roads on our journey. Have to say I do not know what the fuss was about. There was snow on the wayside but we soon ran out of the falling snow and into mist which alternated with sun. Despite the forecast the roads were clear and we arrived back safe and sound.

Quite a bit of last night was spent thinking about what will go where, friends input was very helpful…….

I woke a couple of times during the night, once thinking about curtains…….there are coverings of some description at the windows which will have to do until I have sorted things out.

Now we have to tell the children and start the process of sorting out a removal company, setting a date and giving notice on this house……..

    Watch this space.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Oh dear Hester, I'm so sorry to hear about your DD! I hope she soon finds another job.

About the BF debate, I think the saddest thing I ever heard about it was from a young woman who was in hospital with her first baby when I'd just had my second - she was bottlefeeding, and said sadly to me "My husband doesn't want me to breastfeed, he's very possessive."

Shez - Welcome back! :hello: I' pm'd you.

AussieLass - Started packing yet? :)

csarina - Glad it went well and you're safely back - for now! x

Maybe we should come up with some sort of secret hand signal/sign that identifies us as OS'ers? :rotfl: Good on you for going in the first place.
