I guess this BF debate must be the longest running ever! I remember the arguments 37 years ago when I was expecting DS1! In fact I quite wanted to BF and did, successfully - but I had friends who didn't. and whose babies seemed to turn out every bit as healthy as mine! I think it has to be your choice. I do think that it's a very natural reaction to dig your toes in and become more determined than ever not to, if you feel pressurised.
Having said that, my advice would be to give it a go as it's so much more convenient if it works!

I'm in the middle of creating a file with all important info in it form tax numbers to emergency gas number, lost credit card phones number the lot. Realising how useful this would be if disaster ever struck. It was on the flylady list to do and I wondered if any of you have a similar thing?

Time for a cuppa now though as I need to move off my ball and get the circulation going again.

    - I had some great advise from an NCT counsellor and enjoyed feeding all of mine. It is handy when you want your newborn back for a cuddle that you are the only one who can feed him/her ;) Gives a good reason to sit down ;) helps gets your tummy back down (you can feel it contracting as you feed). I found it convenient never to have to think about having bottles ready. You don't have to choose now, I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Ooh - daren't move off here (any excuse!) as there are two gorgeous pheasants feeding on my lawn within three feet of me! They don't normally venture much beyond the hedge, so must be feeling extra hungry! So.. I'll just have to stay here surfing as I'd hate to frighten them away!

Blimey - sorry all - I didn't mean to start a big debate on BF'ing  I think it's plain daft to ask me what I'm going to be doing when I'm not even past my 12 weeks yet! Must agree with beemuzed though - the more I get told I absolutely must do something, the more I dig my heels in. The troubles of having "stubborn" genes from both my Mum and Dad :D

thriftlady - I can just about stomach a yoghurt at the moment, but only the one!

    Hi All!:hello:

Haven't posted on OS for yonks! someone got me hooked onto facebook and now that darn farmville!:o

Nice to see there are still some old names posting I remember!

OS wise...well trying to get back into the swing of things since xmas -
and trying not to eat too much! but find myself eating up all the leftover cakes n bics during the day!:o Managed to sort the loft out and get rid of some stuff. Still need to clear out more as soon as the snow has cleared and get back to normal.

Nothing much happening on the allotment at the mo, will start again March. We had a load of Sarpo potatoes before xmas, which I have to admit I didn't like the taste of :o. My neighbour makes the jam from the fruit harvest and gave me loads of jars, I have since distributed some out!
I'm stil on last years batch! very yummy though!

Loved the Hairy Bikers the other nite - may have to try that date cake!

Doing boring washing at the moment, just difficult to get it dry this weather - and just need to decide what to do for tea tonite.

Enjoy your OS day everyone! xx
  • beemuzed How wonderful I bet you wish you had your camera to hand.We were once on holiday years ago in Drumnadrocket near Loch Ness and I had just opened the door of our holiday cottage to hang out the washing when on the top of the washing pole was perched the most beautiful huge golden eagle.I couldn't move in case it flew away, and was trying to call my husband without making too much noise. He heard me and came out behind me as I was aying in a whisper 'Don't make a row as there is something well worth the 500 odd mile drive up here'.Luckily he cottoned on, and we both stood for ages watching this beatiful bird whilst it groomed and preened for several minutes then suddenly took to the sky again. Its the fiirst time I'd seen one inthe wild so to speak and it really is an awe-inspiring sight.Never had a chance to photograph one though. The memory has stayed with me for over 30 odd years. Nature in the raw is just so jaw-dropping at times isn't it.
Breast feeding is a personal thing and if you feel o.k. about it then do it if you don't want to then don't, never be coerced into something you are not happy with It's your body and your baby, and what feels right for you is the main thing.
BF sadly didn't stop me from getting breast cancer, its the luck of the draw really.
    msd sounds good about Tris
My good news today is my old pal June who has been so poorly is coming to visit next week all being well for a couple of days, and I shall spoil her rotten as she was brilliant when I was ill last year. She's just been on the phone and sound really bright and cheery,so fingers crossed.
Right back to work with my rubbish clearance in the spare room or June will have nowhere to lay her head down
    Cheers chums

  • Hello everyone!
I haven't posted on old style for absolutely ages but i do still read it everyday. Anyway i am going to try to post everyday from now on even if i do sometimes feel as if i have nothing interesting to report!
Well the snow has finally melted here and has been replaced with rain which i dont mind so much as at least i can walk into town rather than 'slip/slide' into town! So far today i have done the weekly shop, cleaned the shower room, got rid of my older bank statements and properly filed the ones i want to keep. I have also cleaned out my african greys cage. My grey is nearly 7 months old now and he is sitting on the desk next to me as i type playing with his toys (his name is george) and also trying to eat the computer mouse!
In Morrisons they were selling memory foam pillows at half price (£7.49) so i got us all one each - i just hope they are as good as they are suppposed to be!
My youngest DS text me a while ago to say that he had got an A in his biology gcse and a C in his maths one. he is disappointed with his maths result but i told him that as he was going to be taking A level maths then he shouldnt be so hard on himself.
Dinner tonight will either be meatballs and pasta or pasta bake.
Hugs to all those feeling poorly/down.

Woohoo!! :j:j:j:j been to the docs and i can hear perfectly in my right ear, everything sounds really loud and i swear that i can hear things that i`ve never heard before :D i`did manage to drop the bread when the paper that it was wrapped in crackled as it made me jump :o

The left ear is now the one that has no hearing in at all, this was the one that i thought would be ok but despite repeated attempts it just would not clear so its another week with the olive oil then another try so i`m a bit lopsided atm but hey i`m not complaining :j

I`ve just had a lovely ham and mustard sandwich and i`ve a nice cuppa by my side so another few minutes on here and then i`m off to tackle the kitchen, the pork is out of the slowcooker and cooling and i think i`m going to rejig the meal plan so that we eat some of it tonight.
I was going to make potted sage and pork but think that we`ll have it for a main meal instead.

JackieO - Good to hear that your friend June is feeling chirpy, i have a neighbour who has been really ill lately so i shall pop around and see how she is in a while as i need to walk to the postbox to post some birthday cards and she`s not too far away.

Reverbe - Hope that your friend manages to get things sorted out, it does sound like an awkward situation.

Kadeeae - The only thing that makes sense to me is that she is probably running a cafe or similar, she certainly didn`t seem to need anything, i`ll bet her shoes cost more than my mortgage payment :rotfl:

Right off for a browse then i`ll brave the freezing kitchen :p

    Have a good afternoon everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
