Morning!
It's cold and grey here, but dry so I've thrown open all of the bedroom windows wide . . . absolutely freezing in there but I don't care, it needs a good airing out! I usually do so every morning, but it's either been raining, snowing or sleeting for the most part for what seems like ever.
Essex girl- I'll be 'round later for that lasagna!Haven't made any in ages and now I want some, may have to go on the next 2 weeks menu.
Thriftlady- All gone to school? Time on your own?? Whatever shall you do? :rotfl: Must feel quite the relief.
Sunny- I think you kept your cool surprisingly well! Let's hope there aren't too many 'yellow sticker women/men' out there! Shouldn't really comment as I don't know what her situation is, but it does sound like total and utter greed to me!
I've got a beef soup/stew/casserole thingy, lol, going in the slow cooker. Will decide later exactly what it is dependent on thicknessPotato croquettes and a bit more veg to go with. Got all of yesterday's chore list done plus mopping the kitchen floor, will put a star on my chart for that!
Soon as I get this posted I've got to do an online shop then start some bread in the BM. The rest of the day is my oyster! Well, if you don't count the 101 little jobs that seem to pop up and burst my bubble
((((hugs)))) to all who feel the need for one . . . don't we all from time to time?
Best get a move on, hope to get in later for a catch-up :wave:0 -

Housing benefit is based on what income you have in your household not who you're "linked to". Hopr you get it sorted.

Now have lots of reading material whereby I am already being browbeaten about breast feeding (clearly I will be evil if I don't )
I was all geared up to have words with people that were going to try and convince me to BF. I was perfectly well imformed and had still decided not to do it - consequently no one said a peep to me about it :rotfl:
You'll find a bias towards BF as that's the national line - if you want to try it that's great. If you don't want to that's great too. I am pro choice, rather than pro BF - so many women beat themselves up over BF or not being able to - my thoughts are happy mum = happy baby.
When I was in hospital after having DD I was shocked to hear a MW telling a new mum that it is really easy to over feed a bottle fed baby - I really wanted to stick my head round the curtain and tell her to naff off. Both mine have been bottle and I've never been able to get them to eat more than they wanted too. Bottle was always flatly refused.
Be wary of baby books (I personally loathe Gina Ford) - not many people I know who read them actually found them of any use.
Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant
People will give you loads of advice (like me :rotfl:) - take the bits you want to try and ignore the rest. I can highly recomment Grobags though - far more snugly and better than a blanket at nightI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Good Morning All.
DH used some of the leftover roast pork last night in a stirfry recipe from the Economy Gastromy book - it was really delicious! Still some meat left, so sweet and sour is on the menu for this evening.
I've had a lazy start to the day - had breakfast with DH before he left for work, then went back to bed for an hour - didn't sleep, but enjoyed just lying there listening to the radio.
It's pouring with rain atm - so hopefully the white stuff is on its way out! Mind you, must agree with JackieO - feel guilty complaining about it when I see the situation in Haiti right now. Dreadful.
Well, am going to find my crotchet book to remind myself how to do it as I really want to get started on this throw. Have to deal with some insurance papers for Church as well today, and sort out my course file which has to be handed in tomorrow. Still, not exactly a busy day!
Hope you all get to enjoy whatever you're doing - and ((HUGS)) to everyine who needs on just now. Take care.Resolution:

Good morning All :hello:
I have to agree with the above....
I was only 21 when I had DS (who is nearly 8 now) and there was lots of pressure to Breast Feed and midwives and nurses were often keen to point out that I was young and inexperienced and didnt know what I was doing.
I bottle fed my LO in the end partly because I was under so much pressure and in hindsight should have told them to.....how did Bitsy Say it - oh yeah - Naff Off!!
You will decide whats right for you and LO xxxSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Lowesy, do what YOU want to do, My DD didn't want to breast feed but I wanted to try so the MW would take DD out of the ward and feed her with a cup type thing as she said if I gave her a bottle it would be harder to get her on to the breast!!!!!
Anyway, she is still didn't want to take the breast so I ended up expressing and she took to the bottle straight away....but I do feel I missed out on feeding her for the first day.....should have just let her have the bottle first off and to be honest she was underfeeding if anything.....just 1 or 2 oz's every 3 hours!!
You have to do what YOU feel is right...Bitsy put's it very well xx0 -
Just for a little balance in the baby-feeding debate - breast feeding is recommended as all evidence shows that it's best for the baby. there is also evidence that breast feeding is good for the mother, too (protection against breast cancer, for instance).
My advice - do what is best for your child:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Lowsey - I remember being in hospital with DD1 and DS (DD2 was born at home;)) and every MW every shift change asking me if i was BF or not, every time i felt like i had to explain i couldn't because i'd had an op and couldn't , But even if i could i wouldn't haveYou know your getting old when yougo to the pub sit outsideand admire the hanging basket
