Morning all. Got a busy one today. A friend of ours is being evicted by his ex partner. (complicated situation with him living in her old house)She has decided to give him only a coupla days notice as she has found tenants to move in on Sunday despite having to give him a month by law so not only does he have to find somewhere to live fast, we have to collect our stuff we have over there. They won't give him housing benefit as he is apparently still linked to his ex partner via their daughter despite her living outside the county with another man.

We are taking a storage unit between the two sets of us as prior to becoming homeless we have to decorate so flatmate can sell his flat. So lots of box lifting and sorting to do today. I didnt sleep last night cos I am worried about him and sad as this nasty mess is having a knockon effect on the little girl who is apparently getting very upset as she is playing silly games with the child access due to him not being able to pay the rent to her.

Hope everyone is safe and well. It rained here last night so much of the snow has gone. Tho it snowed heavily in the evening to make it impossible to go to one of my book clubs.Course now we have the problem of pavements turning to glass with the ice. To me this is far more dangerous but our council doesnt have any inclination to clear pavements even with shovels. Funny tho that the area around the council buildings is completely snow and ice free.

Has he taken independent advice on this (such as CAB) Housing benefit is based on what income you have in your household not who you're "linked to". Hopr you get it sorted.

    Morning peeps

very cold and foggy here, everything is white and its difficult to see very far, i`ve not been outside at all yet so i`m not sure just how slippery it will be. We did have some fine snow overnight which settled on top of the ice but i would think that would make it easier to walk on - no plans to drive anywhere today.

I`m off to the docs later to have my ears examined, hopefully the left one at least will be syringed and the right one can be assessed. No pain at all from either of them just the annoying deafness. I`ll be so pleased when i don`t have to ask people to repeat themselves

Hester - Is there anything that can be done to help with your ears?

Sistercas - A pm will be winging its way to you shortly

Redruby - Hope that you are settling in well and enjoying your new home, hope that your net connection is sorted soon cos we miss your posts.

Jayward - Good luck with your MRI today

Well i`ve emptied the dw and hung all the washing upstairs on the airer, the bread is out of the bm and cooling nicely. The only thing still switched on in the kitchen is the slow cooker with a piece of pork in that i bought last night - yes i managed to get to the shop with DH driving last night.

We went late after the houndies had been walked but before everything froze so it was fine and i managed to get yeast and bread flour oh and some vinegar along with a couple of other bits so i`m happy now :D

Had a very annoying experience in the supermarket though, as we were late everything was being yellow stickered that had yesterdays date on, i bought some steak pies that were 4 for 49p and some sausage rolls for DH`s lunchbox. Although it wasn`t really close to closing time everything was being marked down early and i think that this was because not many late shoppers were expected. I probably would have got some more sausage rolls for next week but have no room in the freezer.

A woman sped up to the stand as we were walking away and she filled the entire trolley with the whoopsed pies and rolls, honestly there must have been over a hundred packs  she went round the shop at top speed filling the trolley with anything and everything that was yellow stickered so that there was nothing left for the people that pop in later to try and pick up a bargain. I was absolutely gob smacked. I was amused at the meat counter though as the reduced braising steak wasn`t a bargain so it serves her right for not looking but there were three large trays and she just shoved it in, all the reduced meat went in her trolley and there was quite a lot too.

When we got to the till someone was packing their shopping at the other side and we were about to put our shopping on the conveyor when the whoopsie woman ran up with her overflowing trolley - yep you guessed it, one trolley had gone through and she had gone to fetch the second one that she had left in the middle of the shop with the rest of the shopping in it, almost everything was reduced but it still must have cost a fortune.

The till supervisor saw and opened another till for us and the three staff there looked as if they were fed up with her and off hand so she must be a regular at this sort of thing. We don`t normally shop at that time so i`ve never seen her before but what a horrible selfish woman she must be.

When she ran up with the other trolley i wasn`t best pleased, she just shoved in front and started loading it into the conveyor, i asked if it was all her shopping that was already on the belt and she looked down her nose and said yes! I`m afraid i swore :o

Was i wrong to want to ram my trolley into her repeatedly over and over again until she couldn`t walk? Felt really sorry for all the peeps that missed out later and the staff who had to deal with her - they do a great job.

Anyhow i had to get that off my chest as i can still see her annoying face today!

I`m off to walk the houndies so will catch up later.

    Have a good one peeps.

Good luck for the scan Jayward.
    Have a good journey DG.

Not sure what's on the agenda today. I need to get to the office again but I also have shopping to do. Just don't know which way round to do it. :D
Easy peasy tuna pasta for tea so no prep needed. And we had another egg from the hens this morning. :j:j:j(Think it was Hannah this time)
Breakfast was porridge and banana, lunch for the girls is pate, crackers, HM yoghurt, HM smoothie and an apple. For me and OH it will be pate on toast.
Other than that I have more ironing to do as my ironing friend can't make it. It takes me forever so I think I'kll watch a film at the same time.

    Have good days everyone

Sunnyday when I worked in Morrisons we had a few who were like that. For the most part the regulars were lovely, always stopped for a chat etc and I had no qualms holding back pies and chickens for them whilst they did their shopping so I could reduce it that little bit further (we had to reduce at certain times) but there were a few who were vultures. I remember one family, all about 7 stone overweight (no offence to those overweight I'm not exactly a stick myself ;)) but they would rifle through all the bags, actually opening them (disgusting!!!) and having a good nose. Reducing the chickens was the worst job anyone could have, if you were claustrophobic you would have freaked out at the amount of people crowding round you

There was also another woman whom we dubbed 'weasel woman'. She would be in every evening picking up all the reduced stuff. She would even ask if you could reduce even further (sometimes the prices were 19p and she wanted them for 9p which we had to get special permission for from our ADM) and even suggested chucking a few things in one bag so that she could have them for cheaper.

The cheek of some people knows no bounds.

    Good morning,

I have been full of cold, but today I feel like I may survive. Yesterday I went to my friend's dad's funeral. When I was younger I used to work in a deli in Brixton, and for a laugh we used to shut each other in the big fridges. Well yesterday at the crematorium was colder than that. It was awful.

Monday and Tuesday I did nothing apart from make dinner as I felt so bad. Yesterday I managed to do the ironing, and today I need to put more washing on and have a hoover round. I have done the breakfast dishes, which is good as I didn't manage to do them until dinner time on Monday.

I did notice something this week though.....until today my recycling bin hadn't been emptied for 3 weeks and my green bin for 2 weeks. There was still plenty of room in both of them. It's amazing what a difference cooking from scratch and trying not to be wasteful makes to the amount of stuff that gets thrown out.

    Take care all of you

    Morning all

rain on top of snow is making my part of the world very slushy and icey. Kids at school and I have no intention of going back out until pick up time.

Plan is to have a tidy round, do my daily s&s and then spend the rest of the day on paperwork .

I really need to try to find some tiles we like for the cloakroom - anyone know of some good tile sites for ideas?

Lowsey - Fruit scones (milk and dried fruit are high) and green veg are what I was advised when I fractured my foot when preggers.

    Have a good day OSers.
