"Sacked on the spot?" Jesus Christ where did you work!? A verbal warning maybe, perhaps even a written one, but honestly no one would get sacked on the spot for doing what you describe - that's a ridiculous comment designed to make the nature of your complaint sound much more extreme than it really is.

I gotta be honest, this is an awful lot of fuss over a box of cakes. I mean it really is a massive over-reaction - I doubt even a very customer-orientated member of the Morrissons Customer Service team would take it particularly seriously - probably just fob you off with something along the lines of "the matter will referred to the store manager who will investigate it further" and pretty much forget about it.

I really wouldn't expend too much energy over something like this.

But it isn't just over a box of cakes is it? Staff in this store clearly think its OK to have first dibs at reductions of this type. It isn't right from a customer standpoint - and I'm pretty sure its not right from where management stand either! The practice needs stopping.

Yes, correct, but most people live in the real world and don't go to work because they want to do their respective company a favour do they? People go to work, with the exception of the odd few i'm sure, to earn a living and feed their families, not to make sure their employer makes as much profit as possible.

Well all I can say is I am glad half of Britain sits unemployed behind their TVs because I really wouldn't want them doing the most menial of jobs

I hope all of you get treated really badly, because you really do deserve it ;)

There's an awful lot of cyber warriors on this thread! How brave! Not....

I'd be fuming too if a shop worker was so rude to me - give the OP a break. If the situation was based in a garage or bank, most of the critics would be baying for the employee's blood IMO.

Agreed! If someone in a bank took a box of cakes out the back after reducing them I'd be livid...
