Morrisons staff putting things aside.

Sales items/reduced prices etc are part of marketing, they attract people to the supermarket in the hope of picking up reduced price items, bargains on sale etc.
If staff take them, their wont be any for the customers, and they will see a reduction in customers visiting the store.
Staff are their every day, some people can only get to the supermarket now and again, so its easy for staff to buy things whenver they want, a customer on the other hand may have to fork out for taxis etc, and not be able to visit the supermarket every day.
The customer should come first.
But this is England, and customer service is (in the main) a thing of the past, partly due to a lowering of education standards (despite ever higher examination scores), a lowering of moral standards, the me-me-me attitude of the masses, and poor treatment of employees by employers.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

Let's just say that's pretty unlikely - although I am amused by the concept of giving this thread as some kind of evidence as part of a complaint about cakes! :rotfl:
Yes.......... I know.......... it was intended as a light hearted joke.......... hence the big cheesy grin at the end........... didn't mean to come across all serious............ sorry............:p0 -
sack the shop worker on the spot.She was not doing her job properly and cost the store money.
The op obviously wanted the box of cakes
she should have walked away and waited to see if he purchased the goods at full price before reducing.0 -

People go to work, with the exception of the odd few i'm sure, to earn a living and feed their families, not to make sure their employer makes as much profit as possible.
Sadly, that is too common, people just going to work, and not caring about what they do, they drag down the other workers who do care, and who do want to do a good job.
Employers dont often treat employee's with respect anymore, the concept of a job for life is consigned to the history books, and work is a chore, not a enjoyable challenge for most.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

As an aside to this story,I was very impressed in my morrisons at about 5.45 I picked up 2 bags of reduced lemons for 49p,I was brousing the meat section and a member of staff came up to me and said you took the lemons I was just about to reduce further and promptly put a 9p sticker on each of them,I was very impressed that he followed me down the shop just to put these stickers on as i was happy to pay 49p.0

So the staff are 'unofficially' given first refusal on cheap bread and cakes that are almost out of date......
.....Like most on here, it's a perk of the job in my opinion, just like bus drivers get a free lift home from their driver mates!
I'm sure if the OP worked in a supermarket, and they knew the person who reduced the stuff, they would have a sly word too.Profit=sanity
Turnover=vanity
Greed=inhumanity:dance:0
